There is a major windstorm today in DC, and the Federal government is closed.  I got up at my normal time and was ready to go in to work.  I just happened to check the local news, where I saw the announcement, and confirmed it on the OPM website.  It's just as good for me, because I was at work for 11.5 hours yesterday to finish a couple of tasks, and am now waiting to hear back from the rest of the team with their input.  I will telework and finish those up, and it will be more efficient to do that from home without distractions.

My wife's school is also closed.  It is pretty windy..  Glad I cut down those trees last year that were leaning.

Woke up to snow instead of rain. And now the forecast is for a potential 15 inches of snow at elevations above 800 feet.

Which is exactly where my town sits.

The wind is really cranking up here in Lovely Southern New England. Gonna be some serious yard cleanup to come.

Rain and some wind here. Going to crank up this afternoon. Expecting some flooding in low lying areas of town.

The only reason I am at work is to drive home my idiot buddy who is returning a state car today. He was driving from Rochester to White Plains and left early last night to 'get ahead of the storm'...and then stopped. So we are waiting for him here in White Plains as he drives through this maelstrom. The drive ordnarily takes 4-5 hours. Oh and he also has to drive through the town we all live in to get here.

You may ask yourself - why did he stop? You may ask yourself - why didn't we just tell him we couldn't meet him? You may ask yourself - is this fool's wife really that hawt?

I don't have answers to any of these questions. And I will have a long time to think about these things as we wait for him, as the snow piles up north and the cities around us flood.

My town is projected to get a foot or more. Rochester just 2-4 inches. They dodged this one. My buddy did EVERYTHING wrong. I don't even know if he has 4wd...
