I just watched this film on Amazon prime.  It's based on the life of Ludmilla Pavilechenko, a Ukranian woman who became the Soviet Union's most successful female sniper with 309 kills.  It's a decent film.  Suffers from some melodrama and cliches but it's an interesting story and the actress playing Ludmilla does a great job.

I found it difficult to get past the staged melodrama in the beginning, and shut it off after a few minutes.  I must be getting old and crotchety because my patience isn't quite what it used to be regarding screen-watching.

Will try to power through the cheesy preface sometime in the future.

It's interesting that Amazon Prime Video has a LOT of war-themed movies, especially Russian ones.

The content for Canadian Amazon Prime is pitifully bad.  It's mostly badly lit 70s era soft core porn from Europe or shitty direct to video action flicks from the 80s.


Nef, yeah, the woman who plays Elanor Roosevelt is particularly cringe-inducing in her sheer inability to act.

I liked. I thought it interesting on the European / Russian take on US media.

Not saying they are wrong. But though it interesting.

Overall movie could have done less with the romance aspects but it wasn't nearly as heavy handed as Enemy at the Gates
