I've found a bug.
After playing the Opposition scenario and winning the election, I exited without saving by mistake so I replayed the scenario again but lost by a whisker.
Instead of re-trying a third time, I loaded an earlier save and used the mod tool to win. As soon as the interface changed when I took power, I found that I couldn't re-allocate or redistribute my CIA agents on the Manage Networks panel. I could reduce agents in one nation, show a surplus, confirm the change, but opening the window again showed the same pre-allocation state with no changes.
It works fine in other scenarios, just not on this savegame. I don't know whether this is because:

1. I used the God n' Spy tool or
2. It's because of the interface change/transition from opposition to ruling party or
3. It's just bugged.

solops I've read there are bugs. Not noticed one yet and played daily for over a week.

I read that there is a LOT of calcualtions going on for all the economy stuff so that it's best to do one major economy change per week or several as a package. Wait a week to kick in and you're good. Similarly wait until later in the first year to do big trade deals.

I'd say it's more clunky than bugged. Like South Korea will war with Japan becaus AI has trespassed.
You have bases in a country but they don't want you to move through it unless they are in same war.
So I use Gods and Spy to white peace that stuff.

Military game: You can control units or let the AI do it. No middle ground. Oh actually units seem to have a bug, but not game breaking for me personally. Commandos can bug and not land from helis. And AI control attack helis can get stuck.

Grim.Reaper Make no mistake this is NOT a war game. The war game side is so very basic. But for me the deep, rich and working economy, politics (internal is very strong), espionage, role play value; that it the rare modern setting etc make it still viable for me. I wish there was a more Hoi style war game or more realistic BCT system, but  have to just see it as abstracted. Missiles launchers can kill everything except that you need infantry and tanks to take cities. And you will take casualties taking cities.
So I would say this is not a Buy game if it's the war game you are looking for. Hoi's Modern Day 4 mod is that.
But I also love economics, politics and geo P in the modern setting and there is hardly anything out there for that- and this game is playable now, despite problems.

Short version- has bugs; is clunky; not game braking yet, rough diamon in rare modern day setting. Is not a war game, the focus is economy and politics. Oh and you'll notice it's pricey, though I think their site has discounts.

nope, wasn't looking for this game to be a detailed war game, was looking to actually confirm the opposite since i don't want to micromanaging the wars.  i would prefer just to give some general instruction and let computer worry about the details.

sounds interesting game, just not sure i would spend this much money on it right now, not that because it's bad or anything, just not sure how much it would stick with me.

Ah yes I misread you.
Yeah it's a steep price in today's game market. Too steep. But was impulse buy for me as I get the modern grand strategy itch a lot and SP etc and earlier versions of this were a let down.

Sounds like sale material  for you, or check some lets plays if you get the itch.
