The Franks with their famous Maginot line of 88s, on the other hand.... not a good idea for the Huns to attack straight into that, but it does have some obvious weaknesses.

Hm, that's unfortunate.  It's true some of those big TC's can be finicky.   

At least you have IS-2's with bow armed Hunnic commanders now.

^Did you use the Great War mod with success? It really is quite tragic for me. I followed that mod in development for years, literally, only to have it be less than promised, by a long shot, when released.

^  I did, and it's fun for a time.  Sadly, replicating WW1 combat, even in the early war phase, is beyond the capabilities of the NTW engine.   Even the Fall of the Samurai battles felt more authentic to early 20th Century warfare.

It's fun for a time, but then you realize that it's just never going to be what you're looking for in a WW1 game.  I'm not sure Total War could ever achieve it.

We're a long way from ever getting something that gives a good simulation of WW1 tactical level that's good looking, reasonably accurate and not mired in bad AI and micromanagement.

Yep. I hate to say it. But this mod was a waste of time. Kudos for the effort and creativity though.

Nah, it's not just you.  It does look really good though.  I'd love to see the work they did on models and terrain done on something that was built from the ground up to simulate WW1 and preferably turn based. 

As for this mod, yeah, you can't knock the effort.  I just think Total War hits a brick wall at the end of the 19th Century in terms of capabilities.  It's best suited to its classical/medieval roots. 

The first Rome is clearly, even more problematic for the scope of this mod.   I don't mean to laugh at the hard work of the modders, but I can't help but feel they could've spent their time better elsewhere.

All I want to know is if they ported the Naked Fanatics from RTW to this 1942 mod. Naked Nazi Fanatics With Swastikas. What else could you wish for  :dreamer:

Edit: I recall there was some sort of modesty option with RTW for Naked Fanatics. Here, that could be implemented with Adolf's Moustache covering the strategic parts. I am definitively in!  <:-)

Patton was a cavalryman so definitely the white charger.

I was really amused by the floating tanks going up a hill.  Certainly TW2 managed to get units to walk up hills correctly.  Wonder why they couldn't manage it.  I also liked that knocked out tanks seemed to be flattened like some giant had squashed them.
