I think they only ran one sale a year back then, the Christmas sale. (And then added an Easter Sale later as their second one.)

We would be consequently juggling all year how much we wanted a game vs waiting for it to be (only) 30% off during the Christmas sale. Almost as bad as Playstation 3 games at the PS store!

Bought Legions Triumphant and Age of Belisarius for FOG2 and Alea Jacta Est. In an ancients mode at the moment.

I'm usually too slow to play RTS games but the sale had me finally check out the Scourge of War series since that's a historical period I don't know much about but always wanted to learn, and after playing the demo and seeing that it's manageable for a turn based slow poke like me, I picked up both the Gettysburg and Waterloo collections for $30 each, so more good stuff to dive into this winter.

Bruddah, you can't go wrong with the Civil War games.  The most fun I've had wargaming in my life is playing Scourge of War using couriers only.  It takes some work to get it all set up right, but when you hit the right scenario, with the right settings, oh man you are in for an experience.

I'm saying, playing a Corps vs. Corps or even Army vs. Army, and issuing a total of 40 orders, all through courier.  If you think of it as 40 "turns" it makes a lot of sense. 

Good stuff...you made excellent choices.

Ah that's great info Toonces, I hadn't thought of that courier feature used as a sort of turn, but I can see how that would be a really cool thing to try, thanks for the good info.

For those of you who have or have been interested in LnL Heroes of Stalingrad there is a great looking mod for it i just came across. There's currently 15 scenarios in the mod, Stalingrad and Carentan scenarios, the guy has plans for more. Game is currently $15 on sale. Installation is pretty straight forward, install a second copy of LnL HOS besides the stock version. Install the main mod by overwriting some files, and then do the same with the scenario files.
