Can't somebody log onto Gus's account and put in his turns for him?  Why wouldn't that work with the PBEM++ system?

Well, yeah if he wants to give up his username and password it should work...

But then you'd have to make a second install of the game or delete your account info from your game to enter his info...

The way it works is (hopefully I remember correctly):

The server waits for you for 3 turns, waiting for the turn timer to expire.

After 3 turns, you are set inactive, and the server will stop waiting for you, plus the AI will take over.

But, you can return any time, just simply submit a turn. You are not kicked out of a game until you are eliminated or resign.

Sounds like it will force the game to take 48 hrs for each turn so you should only miss 3 or 4 if yer gone for a week.

At this point, anyone looking at the map (which doesn't show FOW for nations) will observe that my only hope is for Ethiopia to invade from the west.

Considering that I somehow started out allied with Ethiopia (or so Ethiopia said), this could be considered possible.

Considering that Ethiopia instantly joined my side years ago and since then has done NOTHING AT ALL -- I'm not holding my breath.

That's actually a nifty system, Tamas! In that case I could've played after all. Just having the AI manage things for me sometimes in busy RL times and return after.

IIRC this is something mainly configured on the client's (i.e. the game's) side.

Plus, this is the first game using PBEM++ that allows more than two players in one game, so we never needed to tackle the situation before. :)
