Dammit Carl!

Time to get reflective.  Time to think about where you are at now.  And time to get hopeful.

All the best to you, you Grogggy few, and hope you all have a good new year.

p.s. Too much time on the TickTok made me mislabel the subject, lol.  Such a putz.

Well said, brother.

A happy and healthy New year to all.

Going to play some DCS, M&B Bannerlord, Star Citizen and maybe some Titanfall 2. Will also play more Nebulous Fleet Command.

Happy New Year, fellers.

Continuing blasting through Age of Empires 2 campaigns, just won the new Lords of the West, six chapter campaign as Burgundy. Very well done.

If I can pull myself away from AoE, I will get in some time with the 1212 mod for Attila: Total War, Age of Empires IV and hopefully some A Plague Tale: Innocence.

The Great War mod (v6.0) also waits in the wings.

Happy New Year all.

Star Citizen - My space combat has all of a sudden become almost unplayable. Need to investigate what is going wrong here as nobody else is having this problem
Mordhau - I hate the damn thing for being a slow motion slasher with haymakers and some ridiculous mechanics - like blocking. But War of the Roses no longer exists. Sometimes I feel like a slasher.
World of Warships - Friends dragged me back into this.

Happy New Year to Grogheads everywhere. The only fighting I'll be doing this weekend is probably against the Flu. Maybe something else if I feel a little better.

Tonight it's Red Stripes, Sopranos, and rolling dice in Tabletop Sim.  Happy New Year!   O0

Hope you feel better Slash!
I was waiting for a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

Feel better Sir Slash.

As for me, and excellent pick there Carl, I am tinkering with Napoleon Total War Demo. Mostly trying to see how to win Ligny.  I am impressed with how the demo is but I can't quite grok the controls.

Pint of Guinness Stout for me tonight.

Taking a break from trying to get a Lego-crafted aircraft to fly in Trailmakers.  :pullhair:

Happy New Year boys!

Yep.  Descending into the strangely nostalgia soaked world of the US. Civil War.  I say this partly cuz one of my earliest happy memories is of contemplating a Confederate Submarine parked outside of
the Cabildo on Jackson Square in New Orleans AND I see GMT is working on a Confederate submarine game.  Seems interesting at least.

^That...is rather niche sounding, even around here.

Yeah.  So true.  "Confederate Submarines"  -- almost a proverbial niche but not even quite that.  On the other hand, the technology of the Civil War is tantalizingly close to being reasonably effective.
They had "gun cotton" for example and telegraphs and steam engines and repeating rifles.  It's only a few years before decent bolt-action rifles and torpedoes with gyroscopes and so on.  And yet of course
a lot of the weapons are startlingly antiquated.  For example the Belgian muskets mentioned in Peter Cozzen's book on the Shenandoah in 1862:

THERE PROVED TO be an element of truth in the tale the audacious Illinois captive had told Jackson. Reinforcements did reach Bath, but they were scarcely of a caliber to inspire confidence. Shortly after midnight, Col. William G. Murray led the 84th Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers into town. A regiment less prepared for battle could scarcely be imagined. The 84th was just four days removed from its training camp, and the men had only been issued weapons that morning. Those they were given—cumbersome, bent-barreled .69-caliber Belgian muskets, caked shut with tallow—were "more dangerous at their butts than at their muzzles." No sooner had the men shouldered their worthless muskets than they were ordered into canal boats and ferried across the Potomac; two frantic couriers from Bath had brought Colonel Murray word of the impending attack.
