Time to pick this up. I left it when I really wanted it - and it's now 50% off

JH - I know you played it - so - longevity? Decent gameplay? I know what you thought then - any other opinions now?

Anyone else played it want to contribute? This may well be even cheaper at Christmas - so I could wait till then - but I think 50% is a pretty good deal..

I tried the demo. Seemed pretty good but I had a problem whereby the game would detect my joystick/HOTAS/rudder/TrackIR setup and mistakenly label it as an XBOX game controller and wouldn't let me use mouse/keyboard to control the game. I didn't relish the idea of crawling under the desk to wrestle dust bunnies and Cthulhu wires to unplug 4 USB devices every time I wanted to play, so I held off on buying.

Alot of FPS games are like that - and it seems to be linked to games designed for console and moving to PC. I always unplug my joystick/steering wheel from my handy desktop USB hub.

I'm going to give the demo a go.

Its one of the few games I've played to conclusion. Great story, great gameplay. That being said, once I finished the story, I uninstalled as there was not much else I was interested in doing. Still, I got between 25 and 35 hours of play out of it.

I love good story games. 20-30 hours for £15 aint bad.

Games I've played to conclusion in the past have had good stories to keep me in - Max Payne, Batman Arkham Asylum, Half Life, Battlefield 3, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Bad Company 3, Rage, Kane & Lynch 2 : Dog Days - all had good stories and keep me playing...

Demo and I'll see...

well - the demo was short and sweet - really short and sweet! - and intense.

I'm not sre the controls felt funny...sluggish running - I spent alot of time running left to right even though I was trying to run straight!

It's definitely a good game, JD. Especially if you have any love for Hong Kong action flicks.

I think I put about 20 hours in to it and enjoyed pretty much the entire experience.

I'm going to show restraint and wait. I have AJE, X-Com and A-10C I want to continue with...I don't need another distraction. Besides - it'll likely be even cheaper at Christmas.

And JH - I've NEVER got on with controllers. I just don't seem to have the dexterity or aptitude with all those buttons. I used to use one with Madden NFL games - but even then I was always just mashing buttons!

And I miss Madden NFL Football games :-(

I put the graphics up to extreme - and promptly had to put them back down to Medium...but I have to say, even on medium they looked great

I need to read threads closer since I was unaware there was a demo to try.....will give that a try today to see if something to buy. For $18, seems like I might be able to get my money's worth, but we'll see.

JD, I'd be interested to see what you think of A10-C. Its definitely on my Christmas list.

I've had A-10C for some time bob.

I love it - but seldom get time on it and that's mainly down to my determination not to play in arcade mode but my lack of determination to learn.

It looks fantastic and the times I have taken it up in the air it's awesome. I even wrote a sheet once to help with startup procedure and love starting the bird up from cold.

It's most definitely worth the full asking price in my view but it's a total steal if it's on sale...I'd just warn people not to be like me. If you can play in arcade mode I expect you'd get a whole lot of fun out of it...and if you have the dedication to learn it you can have a load of fun with it in sim mode - but I just get frustrated...not with the sim but with my approach.
