Nice to see them open an official forum to discuss all their games in one place and to help find opponents.  I know there are various unofficial sites (and Facebook), but always much easier to discuss in one place that the developers can discuss with their customers.  With me just buying a bunch of their games during the Summer sale, likely will need all the help I can get:)

You need any help with them feel free to reach out.  I have just about all the games and have helped playtest several titles.  More than willing to do a teaching PBEM as well.

Thanks, I appreciate that...when you have time, maybe we can discuss via PM.  Would be interested in a trial PBEM, if you have the patience, although I realize you would likely destroy me:)  Can discuss more when you have time...thanks!

Whenever you are ready just hit me up.  Only working 9 more days until the end of the month when I retire.  Also, wife and I are separating so it looks like I'll have nothing but time on my hands.  LOL

I have signed up for the forum as I bought and played a lot of these , particularly the Napoleonic Campaign series and some if the ACW titles. Probably got a bit burnt out then plaing too many simultaneous MP games of the very big scenariod but I might start dabbling again now as my ACW interest is much moren due to Strategic Command ACW.

Campaign Antietam was re downloaded last night and I have Ozark as well.

It is excellent they provide a link to all your purchased games so they are easy to re download.

Sorry to hear about the separation nelmsm. Escapism through gaming hopefully takes your mind of any grief.

All the best to you.

Congrats on retiring, but sorry to hear about the wife situation. I'll send you a pm and we can go from there.

I completed my ACW collection during the recent sale, although have not played them all yet.  Read in their latest blog that they confirmed no more planned ACW titles so that appears to be a wrap on the series.  Completely understand the major battles have been covered but was kind of hoping the series would live on with other engagements not covered yet.  Understand they have limited resources and I suspect some of their other series are more popular.

Like you, I completed my collection.  Given the series is 20+ years old, and all the major battles have been covered, there just isn't much in the way of potential sales to justify continuing.  I would personally love to see an updated engine with better AI.

I would actually prefer the lesser known smaller engagements, which I know a number have been covered already.  But I understand I would be in the minority and likely the amount of potential sales wouldn't warrant the time/effort by the developers.  I would even pay for "scenario packs" that add to the existing main titles versus full blown releases but I am guessing the foundation of these games aren't built in a way to support any kind of DLC model and would complicate their business model significantly.  Certainly always welcome improved engine and AI updates but even the current stuff keeps me plenty on my toes based on my current skill level.

I'll have to look at the next series of games to complete my collection, started with a couple of Napoleon games and we'll see how I like those.  I also do have the complete series of Early American Wars, couple squad battles, couple naval campaigns, and 1 panzer battle/campaign.  I prefer the older era wars versus modern as there appears to be a ton of stuff going on in the bigger stuff.

Curious as to what ACW battles you think are missing?  Check out Forgotten Campaigns if you haven't already and may find some of them covered there.

Speaking of the AI, that is one way that WDS could breath new life into these titles.  If they would add an AI update, possibly charging $15-20/title for previous owners, I would definitely update my entire collection.

Fair question and one that I don't have a conclusive answer on since more based on my perception from various sources that certainly could prove to be false...which would render my ask meaningless.  Admittedly, I have not compared every battle that occurred in the ACW as to whether they actually exist in one of the ACW games.  Couple reasons for that.  To the best of my knowledge there is not a single comprehensive list of scenarios included with each title in an easy format to conduct that type of analysis easily.  If there is and I have missed it, then would be awesome to get that link.  Otherwise it would take quite a bit of time to load every game and compare battle lists.  Secondly, I suspect the names of the battles wouldn't match 100% to how various sources would even identify the battle.

Back to my perceptions....

- Have read many different books and reviewed different lists on the web of all the battles.  A number of them I never heard of and based on the information listed on the product pages I remember a number of times not immediately finding a match.  Totally possible that within the games they do exist but weren't listed on the product pages or used a different name for the battle.

- Over the years in various forums have seen people ask about battles that weren't included.  It's possible that a future title did end up covering them.  As an example, in the new forum's someone asked about Ball's Bluff and that was confirmed as not being included.

So based on these perceptions, I concluded there must be a number of the lesser battles/engagements not included.  Can I name them all, nope?  Probably most of them I never heard of before but that is the exact reason that I am interested in having the ability to play them if they truly don't exist.  The major and significant battles are well known and have been covered by games and countless books.  Having the opportunity to learn/play these "unknown" battles interests me to simulate things I am not as familiar.  There really isn't a specific battle I am looking to recreate, I am more interested in the battles I know little about.

I also realize that a number of the engagements were very small and possibly wouldn't be suitable for the game engine and if that is the case for any of the missing engagements, then completely understandable why they may never happen.

Again, I could totally be proven wrong and would be great if that is the case:)  None of this is meant as a knock or complaint about the company itself, just me being a big fan of ACW, I always want more:)

We believe we have strong solution to improve the AI. It will take time to implement, but the focus would be on the ACW and Napoleonic titles first.
