Sir Slash

OK, I'm back.  :)  Everyone's OK here, no fatalities just some very, 'scared-shitless' people. Minor damage to the house, the screen porch ended up in the pool, and some big trees piled-up like Pick-Up-Sticks. Power's back on as of this morning but I been busy with the clean-up and helping with a whole lot of tarps on roofs.

This is my 4th major hurricane, the first was Hurricane Donna back in 1960. I was 4 years old and never thought I would be that scared again. I was wrong. What was supposed to be a storm passing to our west turned and pretty much hit us direct. Instead of about 4 hours of hurricane force wind turned into almost 10 hours of it, from about 4:30 pm to around 2:30 the next morning. But the storm panels held and the Wife and I made it through.

However a lot of people didn't. There is a massive amount of damage from Ft. Myers north to the Tampa area and east across the whole state. I hadn't been able to see any of the videos you guys posted here and all I can say is, "DAMN"!

Anyway with the help of the Almighty and family, friends, and some great neighbors we pulled through OK. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It's good to be back, I was afraid you all would have the Drunken Orgy without me.

We did.  That was on Monday.  Sorry you missed it.  It was pretty epic.  Gus isn't allowed within 500 ft of the petting zoo anymore.

Glad to hear you're mostly unscathed.  Go have yourself a G&T.  They're medicinal.

Great to hear!  Glad you're back.  Sounds like you're a grizzled hurricane veteran, so the hurricane clearly didn't stand a chance ;)
I was waiting for a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

I grew up in SE Texas about 25 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. And I spent 48 years working in and around Houston. As I watched the whole gulf coast over the years I have come to the conclusion that the whole thing has become so intensely developed and populated that any serious hurricane that hits will be a HUGE disaster. It's like, they can't miss.

Thanks guys. Kotter looks like me after the storm trying to wade out to my truck. I hear the Death Toll is up to 85 now. Anybody heard different?

CBS is saying 99 deaths in Florida and 4 more in NC.  Unfortunately, it sounds like those numbers are not final...

Water logged EVs exploding/burning after Ian.  Yet another red flag that EVs are not yet ready for the masses or mother nature.

or the batteries get waterproofed and thats used as a marketing tool by whatever company.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Because this is obviously the first wet weather system to exist since EV's have come en vogue.  Clearly, none of the manufacturers thought to simply make them 'waterproof' before now.  I'm sure that will be fixed post haste.

GDS_Starfury

Im sure theyre waterproofed to a point.  that point probably isnt at the submerged in storm flood waters for 3 days level.

I imagine waterproofing the batteries makes it harder to cool them during charging and hot days.  Lots of tradeoffs with most design decisions.

Sir Slash

Well if you can't drive one, at least they're good for cooking your food.  :hide:

its not like gas powered cars work well after days under water.
