My party walked into a room, no spoilers, and there were 15 (!) mobs in there.  We killed all but 3 or 4 before they got us.  And that was on Easy mode.

Part of the difficulty is probably due to the fact that the game is somewhat open-ended and neither scales levels nor holds your hand/warns you if you're about to outmatch yourself.  The game is also significantly easier if you have a character with high Charisma and Persuasion so you can avoid massive fights as much as possible.

I'd also recommend looking up strategies for spells/characters because there's a whole ton of cool stuff you can do which isn't explicitly made clear. In many ways this game is like an ImSim a la Deus Ex. It's all about finding the cool, clever solutions to problems if you can't brute force your way through.

For example, if you hold your party back and sneak a rogue into a room and get off a solid sneak attack, the enemy party will have the "Surprised" trait which allows all your teammates to come in and get a bunch of solid surprise attacks as well. You can also do simple tricks like throwing a bottle of grease at a group of enemies, then shooting it with a fire bolt Cantrip, thus blowing up the whole area and setting multiple people on fire.

So I broke down and picked it up.

In all honesty the combat feels like the Divinity Original Sin series.

I mean there are a lot of differences but using the environment was a staple of those games.

Don't want to spoil anything but early on I got into a 3 vs 2. Got wiped first two times fighting it. Third time I set fire to some fluid for some damage then blew up a container that ended up taking 2 of them out.

It makes you think about the environment and how to gain tactical advantage from it.

Also sounds very similar to Solasta: Crown of the Magister with the use of the environment in combat, shoving enemies off cliffs, jumping, climbing, and ducking behind cover. Often enemies are in elevated positions and you have to find a path to get in range or close to melee. This game looks much more polished to be sure.

I haven't been around in ages, but am glad to see a lo folks were waiting for this one as much as me.  I watched some YouTube vids for some users with similar pc specs (GTX 1660 Super, Ryzen 3600, 32 GB RAM) and seems to run ok if you keep on med settings mostly.  This was my main concern (still debating about updating to a RTX 3060 or 4060 soon).  Anyone in similar boat?  Well, that and just hopping on Diablo 4 last month :)

I have an RTX 2080 Super with most game settings on Ultra and it runs fine for me.

I have only an 1080ti and have had no issues so far, graphics look fine to me.

Have just been busy with family stuff, work and helping with my son's Little League baseball this summer.  Finally managed a vacation out of country after the Covid years (Paris, Brittany France and London UK).

As Con was mentioning, I too had to get some console time going.  These days been I've been doing a lot of gaming on Switch with my son (guiding him through Zelda Breath of the Wild and FIFA). Using a gamepad is a big relief for me on some titles now on PC, especially after using keyboard all day for work.

Good to see folks still around online!
