I had one bug that I couldn't use a ladder after using a certain spell but beyond that I think the issue I am having has to due with the forced driver upgrade. Been getting white screen flashes ever since updating on multiple games / programs.

Having played this in co-op with a friend, I can say that the combat really shines in multiplayer while the story itself works better in single player.  It's a bit annoying having whoever happens to be in front take lead on story beats, especially if you're trying to let a friend experience the story and make choices.

The combat is still a little tedious and honestly my least favorite aspect of the game, since it seems to just mainly involve chipping away at HP sponges.  But the game rewards creativity in a way that would probably qualify it as an "immersive sim" along with the likes of Deus Ex.  And that said, the animations and sound effects are A+ and it's extremely satisfying when you land a crit.  The amount of ways you can approach problems, and the number of ways characters actually react to you, is just staggering.

I feel bad if my last post discouraged people, the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the game is absolutely excellent, but it drops off a bit at the end and might be worth playing on easy mode if you don't like tedious combat.

Here's my current character (Nymeria, Seldarine Drow Rogue, Haunted One)

I play mostly with an xbox gamepad on PC.  I'm getting the hang of menu via controller and find it easier to move around the map with it than with KB/mouse.  Pretty fun so far with Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Karlach in my group.  Trying out Gale as party caster but very fragile.

The character creator is pretty awesome and I've seen some pretty great creations.  I do wish Starfield's character creator was as impressive.

It took me about fifty tries to get a Gnome Bard the way I wanted him, but between the glorious moustache and the fortuitous outfit, I've found my little fella.

This is Boldwin the Brave, level 3 Forest Gnome Bard.  I more-or-less named him after Brave Sir Robin, so it's fitting I managed to find both a hat and outfit that matches those colors.



I might upload more pictures tomorrow when I'm feeling more energized and less tipsy.

Heh definitely.  I figured a Drow rogue would not have had it easy in Faerun overworld.  There was something about Astarion that annoyed me at first, but I think his voice actor did a good job.  I just wanted to be the rogue this first playthrough. As compensation, I did let Astie nip me (annual blood donation + hack eye surgery by Volo - CHECK).

Well done!  I like that moustache - reminds me of Snidely Whiplash from Dudley Do Wright.  Gnomes and dwarves should be get into those little crevasses scattered all over.
