Mostly Distant Worlds 2 but i've also been thinking about playing some Stronghold Warlords.

Do you like DW2 compared to DW1? I see a lot of disagreements here...

Personally I thought DW2 was an enormous waste of my money.  Loved DW1 many years ago.  DW2 felt like a graphics upgrade with an very annoying alert/messaging system added on. I didn't spend much time with it though due to initial dissapointment and too many other games waiting in wings.

To be fair, it has drastically improved since release. I agree that when it first came out, it was one of my greatest disappointments in recent memory. I had really been looking forward to it, as I poured uncounted hours into the original DW. In any event, with several major patches and a couple of DLCs I'm confident saying that it is now a very good game. It still has a somewhat steep learning curve, particularly with respect to the UI and figuring out how best to configure all of the automated systems so that you are playing the game rather than the game playing you.

But for 4x enthusiasts, it is definitely worthwhile.

The thought of reverting to DW1 would never occur to me. I don't think it even runs well on modern systems.

I do like DW2. Haven't played it a lot when it was realesed back then. I was one of the beta testers for DW1 so i still like it but as Jarhead said, it doesn't run well on newer computer. DW2 is still being worked on and a major addon/DLC is on it's way.
