Sir Slash

I've been watching Wolfpack's videos along with some others. I think this is a game I'd enjoy watching others, with more nerves and knowledge of modern weapons than me, play but would probably scare the shit out of me to play. Still, looks gorgeous.  :Dreamer:
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

Man...lethal. That is the first word that comes to mind after playing this game. Naval warfare in the missile age seems hardly survivable when peer combatants are involved. You really need to pull some Horatio Nelson level $hit out of your hat to avoid serious damage to assets.

CAPT Wayne Hughes talked about this a bit in his book Fleet Tactics.  One of his quotes is that in naval combat, "the first effective strike wins."  Another good quote is that warships are "eggs armed with hammers."

Sea Power is really an awesome game. I'm having an absolute blast. While I suspect there is complexity under the hood with a lot of deep (see what I did there?) calculation, on its surface (see what I did there again?) it is surprisingly easy to grasp. Everything from navigation, EMCON level, weapons employment and fleet management is extremely intuitive and easy to learn.

I'm having a ton of fun running a tanker escort mission through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is throwing everything from frigates, patrol boats, speed boats, F-5Es and helicopters at my little flotilla, but so far we're sending everything to the bottom.

I'll post some screenshots over the next couple of days.

This game is going to be a smashing success, and for me, the first real hit worthy of the old Microprose label.

Question is, it better than Naval War: Arctic Circle.

I've played Naval War Arctic Circle and I haven't played Sea Power, but from what I've seen I would say Sea Power is way better.

PS : It appears that Naval War is no longer available for sale.

I thought that game sucked...so, yes. By leaps and bounds.

Silent Disapproval Robot

I'd be down for that but sadly I'm in the middle of an unscheduled move and gaming time is at a minimum.

I'm curious about this one (even pleasantly surprised to see a Sacramento class AOE listed among the ships- mine was USS Seattle) but alas, I am currently running a rapidly approaching "potato class" PC.
So it will be on the wishlist for the time being.  :Dreamer:

My comment was kinda tongue in cheek because naval war arctic circle iirc was left unfinished and abandoned. I got it and was really looking forward to it. The game was fun to a point but missing a few promised features iirc.
