It's sad anytime a US president passes. It signifies the end of some era in some ways.

RIP.  As a High School student, I supported him in 1976, and I reluctantly voted for him over Reagan in 1980.  By that point, it was clear that he was a good man, but in over his head as POTUS.  While I regret my vote, I stand by my analysis.  He was a good man, just he should never have been POTUS.

Godspeed President Carter.

I was very surprised when I read about the Chalk River accident and the future president's role in the cleanup.  His daughter was born about twenty years later.  He and the other USN men who dismantled the reactor are owed Canada's gratitude.

Out of curiosity, would his presidency be remembered differently if Operation Eagle Claw had succeeded, even marginally?  Obviously, inflation and the price of fuel were tremendous issues but I'm wondering about what I haven't grasped.

Seriously however, it is a good question. Also, I wonder if the Camp David Accords would strengthen Carter's legacy if Sadat had not been assassinated.
