No catch. Never had any issues with Fanatical (only official keys).

Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Platinum Edition is FREE on Epic until July 24th.

The Platinum Edition was listed as "unavailable" to me because I already had the base game. But Epic seems to have sorted the problem out within 45 minutes and I was able to add it to my game library.
