I would never believe it was anything otherwise.

On May 10th, 1940, 85 years ago this coming weekend, Germany invaded France and the Low Countries. Despite the Allies having a numerical and, in some cases, qualitative advantage, the campaign was concluded in six short weeks with France, Belgium and the Netherlands subjugated. No you can recreate this invasion either as the Germans or the Allies with Panzer Campaigns: France '40.

This week we bring you Panzer Campaigns: Kharkov '42. In May of 1942, the Axis forces were recovering from the Soviet onslaught during the 1941/42 winter. Unable to attack on a broad front, Southern Russia was prioritized with an aim to take the Caucasus oil and deny the Soviets the same. Before the Germans could launch their strategic offensive for the summer, the Russians saw their own opportunity to attack out of the Izyum bulge. The stage was set for the opposing offensives to go head-to-head.

After the loss of Stalingrad and a retreat almost to the Dnepr River, the Germans planned for their third summer offensive in Russia. Their aim was to wrest the initiative from the Soviets, and hopefully pocket the large Soviet forces in the Kursk bulge, emulating the successful operations of summers past. The Russians had anticipated such a move and prepared to meet the invaders from the safety of the largest defensive structure built on the Eastern Front. Explore this topic more with our next Game of the Week, Panzer Campaigns: Kursk '43 on sale now through June 8th for 25% off normal pricing.

I've inquired about the state of the Modern Air Power Series in the past, asking for updates on future projects and, more importantly, patches that would bring the existing titles up to par with the other series' enhancements. Sadly, it seems to be pretty low priority for the small team and I believe there may be some technical/expertise issues with the engine, etc.

We have been looking at, and prototyping a range of potential improvements for the MAP series. That said, we are overwhelmed with work currently, with both recent releases (Sword & Siege) as well as revisions to more popular series, taking precedence.

There are no abandoned series at WDS, at this time.

Well that's encouraging. Thank you.

We resume our Game of the Week promotion today with the newly updated Panzer Campaigns: Tobruk '41!

The arrival of the Afrika Korps in Africa, saw the rapid collapse of the British after their pursuit of the Italians following Operation Compass. Retreating to shorten their supply lines, Commonwealth and British forces took a stand at Tobruk to slow the German pursuit. Little did the besieged forces know that they would become the focus of the North Africa campaign, for both sides in 1941, and on into 1942.

It's time to move to the deep American South with this weeks title. It's Spring of 1864 and Sherman is beginning his march to the sea. Many intense fights will unfold as the action cuts across Georgia in a bid to seal off a further section of the Confederacy. This and much more is included in Campaign Atlanta.
