A new game by the homeworld complex mod team. I had never heard of it and it was brought to my attention today. Looks ok but the larger ships are damned ugly. Not a fan of the whole first person option in a game like this either.

Apart from that it looks really interesting. This could easily surpass homeworld3 and is out in quarter 4 this year but will continue development after that.

Well I loved the Era One demo and thought it was what homeworld3 should have been. But now that early access has been released I fond myself a little disappointed by how far this game still has to go to become fully featured.

The early access version differences from the demo version are that you can save games, choose colours for your team and a few more maps. No campaign , multiplayer or new sides.

Now I have been burned by so many space rts games now that I really need to hold off getting era one in early access and wait for a year for it to be feature complete. I need to keep playing sins2 in the mean time.

Legends of pegasus - died
Nebulous Fleet Command - the campaign got dumbed down.
Homeworld3 - basically missing skirmish in any meaningful way

I had Era One on my wish list but the demo knocked it right off for me.

Legends of Pegasus. All hype and no delivery. I'm getting the same vibe from Falling Frontier.

I struggled with the demo too without any tutorial or gameplay hints, but gave the game a chance when it released in to EA. It definitely has a lot of potential, but I'm disappointed with the content in the EA release as there is not much additional gameplay beyond what was already available in the demo.

No tutorial and the esc key. Esc pulls up the game menu on almost every other game. From what i understand, esc is used to cancel orders. Which makes some sense in a way. I didn't like that. It goes against normal gaming procedure in most cases.

In most games I play, ESC cancels an order if you have one ready to go, for example if you press the move button and still have not finished it by clicking somewhere you want the unit to finish its move, you press ESC and it cancels the order taking you back to the standard menu. Pressing ESC a second time would then bring up the main menu.

From what you are saying ESC does not bring up the main menu even if you are not currently in the middle of giving units instructions. That is something they need to fix and does show how immature some of the interface is. But, the main game camera and unit instruction mechanics I found to be extremely forgiving and easy to use , especially when you consider what games like nebulous fleet command's movement commands are like to use.

I am still thinking I should buy this game. I wants it and could probably contribute to it's success, but I know it's a high risk venture. Do I trust them to finish the game? Will other better games come up behind it and pass it before it's feature complete depleting the population before it gets started?
