Who is "SNEG"? I thought Battlefront was working with Matrix/Slitherine for their Steam sales. I have these on the original CDs of course, and also bought them on GoG when they released there. I'll probably end up buying them again on Steam lol.

SNEG is some random shop re-releasing old games.

BFC has actually been bought by Matrix, but Matrix has no interest in legacy games.

I think SNEG is getting this through buying rights to Strategy First titles, who had the rights to sell CMx1 engine games under slightly different titles from at Battlefront.

Matrix does have some interest in legacy games -- they still sell some John Tiller games, the best example being the East Front/West Front/EF2 collection (being slowly remade and expanded for modern engines and capabilities by our grand forum members Crossroads and Jason Petho!) -- but not these for somewhat unclear reasons, possibly due to legal right technicalities.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Yeah, they're one of these houses that seems to vacuum up these old classics and put them on Steam. They honestly have an amazing selection:

A lot of those are on GoG already though. On the other hand, I don't think GoG's version of CM:BB and CM:AK don't have the extras available through Steam.

Correct. The GoG games don't have the new screen resolution code.

Very interesting.

Wonder if the new resolutions help with some of the "sparkle" effects I had with the GoG versions. CMAK in particular.

Normally the graphics of older games (even ones I loved) turn me off buying them - but some manage to pull it off. Mafia, B-17 to name two.

I am definitely interested in these. I have very fond memories of them. I love the remakes - but graphically, there are so many glitches nowadays, I don't often play them.

The graphics are not too bad at all. They hold up very compared to similar games from their era.

The gameplay is surprisingly good. In many ways better than the latest Combat Mission titles.

I am impressed with all three: CMBO, CMBB and CMAK.

The looks get a lot better when you install some of the high-end mods.

I still have a fully modded CMBO, need to move those textures over to Steam.

Some SNEG versions are also available on GOG, like D&D Dragonshard, only through GOG Galaxy, some kind of legal mumbo jumbo. Maybe CMx1 titles will get the same treatment?

Super thanks for the heads-up, Redwolf. Playing CMx1 in widescreen is great. I had the GOG versions with their 4:3 resolutions and that was good. But the addition of widescreen is excellent.

I have a bunch of mods for CMBO and CMBB from like over 20 years and they worked in the GOG versions and I moved them over to the Steam versions and no issues.

Wonderbar!

Any mods that you would recommend as a must have?

I would love for the SNEG CMx1 titles to be available on GoG, but I'm not sure about Dragonshard being only through Galaxy...  I have that title on GoG, and the SNEG version is available through my account on the web via 'View Downloads...Extras, under Alternate versions', no Galaxy needed.
