Will AI crew do the work for you as you function as captain ? Or do you micromanage everything ?  Or is it both, but you end up doing everything because you can't trust the AI crew.

I am certainly interested, but I am thoroughly disappointed there is not a dynamic campaign.  I also don't think this will run on my current computer, which badly needs to be updated and/or replaced.

just an FYI...

QuoteAfter completing our first round of beta testing and receiving a large amount of valuable feedback, we have made an important decision regarding the launch of Modern Naval Warfare:

Modern Naval Warfare will initially release in Early Access.

Join us for an exclusive first look at Modern Naval Warfare, the upcoming naval combat simulator from Matrix Games. With less than an hour of experience in the game, we dive straight into the action with a beginner-friendly gameplay overview covering the core mechanics, interface, and tactical systems behind this highly anticipated modern naval warfare sim.

After a quick tutorial and systems walkthrough, we launch our very first live combat mission commanding a powerful US Navy Virginia Flight III-class SSN submarine on a dangerous hunt for hostile Chinese FFGs.

You can assign autocrew to stations. I'm not sure how capable they are yet, though.

Still, this one is looking impressive so far.

The launch that wasn't...

Delayed until at least tomorrow.

...and with no enemy AI...yet, but "very very soon after" launch.

Price looks like its going to be ~$60, at least according to GG-Deals, but no confirmation on the Steam page.  GG-Deals isn't showing GreenManGaming prices. Fanatical is showing $51 with code FANATICAL15, but if you're GMG Gold XP tier (I am), you can pick it up for ~$48.

Yeah, I was poised to buy it this morning.  Then I read about the delays and the lack of AI and decided to hold off.

Looking at Nuclear Option now.

Thanks for this I was going to insta buy this but want a sub SIM not a sailing around SIM. Understand there is a lot to learn but at full price and an AI they deem bad enough to strip out entirely I am not sure why they are bothering with a release at all.. definitely one to wait on to see what happens before splashing that amount of cash on

Is there a gameplay video for that one? A video that shows the UI and how you do things?

Even without AI, this is still an instant buy for me.  I was a playtester of the beta (until it ended this week).  The Developer has been working at light speed on this, and has made very impressive advancements in the eight months I've been onboard.  AI will happen.  High-fidelity naval sims are rare.  It has been 21 years since Dangerous Waters came out, which is the most recent game in this niche.  I suspect that getting some cash flow is one of the issues driving this decision.  While I would normally be cautious, the quick pace of development over the past eight months shows the developer is dedicated to this project and its fans.  This fact,  combined with my desire to support a worthwhile project lead me to purchase the game now.

I'm with you on this. Unfathomable (get it?) especially for something that has theoretically been in development for close to a decade. What is it this week with games in development hell that long releasing seeming as if they're tech demos churned out in a month (looking at you, In The Black).

So what do you do in the sim if there is no enemy AI?
