I move my mouse pointer to the lower-right region of the screen.  Crashes every time.  I've tried everything, and it happens in windowed as well as full screen.  I actually managed to set aside the evening to play, too.  I'm pissed off.

It was running fine when I played this morning!  Oh well, I've emailed GOG.  Fingers crossed.

My big beef was H4 was the crappy map development, the horrrid voice acting/cut scenes, and the idiotic Adventure Map AI.

In various different campaign maps, they had sections of the map that were utterly inaccessible.  Some of the critical stuff was fixed (eventually) in bug fixes, but other maps just had populated dead zones with lots of interesting stuff, but no way to get there that I could find.

What do you mean by crappy map development?  There are no cut scenes or voice acting; so far, in the campaign (still in tutorial phase though) there's the occasional text box/portrait of an advisor but that's it.

I haven't had a single crash to desktop or any other problem running Eador: Genesis on my 64-bit Windows 7 PC. If it makes any difference I have 12GB of DDR3 RAM and a GeForce GTX 470 video card.

Hmm...I guess for $5 what's the worst that can happen?  There is are a number of threads at gog about freezing, super low FPS, mouse pointer issues, etc...

I've had no problems at all.

I asked the developer how different races affect play on the strategic level, and here is his reply:

Each race has an alignment, elves don't like to be oppressed by an evil master, orcs can't tolerate a goody-two-shoes ruler etc. Also, non-human provinces have some specific events exclusive for their races.

More importantly, when you enter a non-human province, you may (depending on your karma) offer this race an alliance, and having sealed the alliance by completing a quest, you get to construct their special buildings in your foreign quarter and recruit their special units.

Well I cracked and played for an hour and a half.  Now it's late and I'm going to be tired all day tomorrow.  The resolution is not an issue for me.  Frankly I think it scales just right for my laptop screen.  I've encountered none of the issues I read about on the gog forums.  It plays silky smooth.  The lack of unit action in the battle really doesn't bother me.  I'm really liking the simplicity and the look of the units.  Not going to jump up and down and claim greatest game e'vah just yet, but it's fun and relaxing.  I did get killed by some ogres which made me realize there is no save other than an auto save.   This baby is hardcore.  None of that I didn't get the result I wanted so let me load up a previous save stuff.  Not sure what that means for the future, but I can tell you I've been much more cautious after my party wiped in my second non-tutorial battle.

SoM, no the resolution is fixed.

Bison, yeah pretty much my sentiments too. I would have liked battle animations, but it doesn't bother me that much either that they aren't there.
Hardcore it is. Even smallish thugs can make your army wither quickly if you aren't careful.

OK.  I'm really, really enjoying this game.  It's going to take FOREVER to beat it.

I will note that my laptop experiences neither lag or mouse issues; I cannot say the same for my desktop.  Not sure why this is but it is a real issue that seems to vary system to system.  I did run two instances of the game and it took care of most of the mouse and fps issues.  Weird but there it is.

What are the specs for this game?  As my dinosaur runs XP SP3, it would be a shame to get all excited about this and find out I can't run it.

I'm pretty sure the requirements are a working PC that uses an MS OS.

Spent a bit of time with this today. Lots of great ideas in there. It is a bit clunky, but it's good. Can't wait to see what they do with the upcoming sequel.
