If all goes well, Red Turn should be available on Steam and on the UoC website tonight (CET, so afternoon for most of you presumably).

Matrix is on their Christmas break, so I can't say with any kind of certainty when it will be released there.

The price will be 10 dollars/10 euro's (well, 9,99, but I hate purely psychological prices).

Nice!

Gonna wait for Matrix's version though.

If I own the Matrix version, is there a way to use the Steam DLC with the Matrix version?

Negative.  The steam DLC requires the steam version of the game.

Which is pants. Are Matrix even getting the DLC ?

There doesnt seem to be any kind of release info and they are on holiday - also - there doesnt even seem to be any news on the 1.04 patch.

I may just buy it again on steam - annoying as it was recently on a sale for next to nothing.

The Matrix version needs to be patched to 1.04 before the DLC will be compatible, apparently this won't be happening until the new year. However 2x2 (the developers) will provide their own version of the fully 1.04 patched game if you email them, see here http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3230312

The version of the DLC from the developers site should then be compatible with your newly downloaded version of UoC you now have from them.

Perhaps we're seeing why 2x2 decided to diversify their distribution a bit...

Anyway, I'll see if it hits a nice sale price during the Steam sale. I already bought it from Matrix, but if it gets cheap enough that the game and DLC are reasonable, I'll pick it up again.

Yes - matrix seem to be dropping the ball on a couple of games they are supposedly distributing.

Yeah, Matrix have pushed/side-lined the game into their "WWII" crematorium on their forums, rather that have the game up with their top sellers. The Red Turn DLC won't show up on Matrix till January 2013 apparently!

I've converted my Matrix version into a direct download from 2x2 games, simply by sending an 'upgrade' email to register@unityofcommand.net, containing proof of purchase and the Matrix registration code. 2x2 will then send you a download link for the latest version of the game 1.04, and you are then free to purchase the Red Turn DLC and use it with the game. All subsequent updates can be done through 2x2 games. From the time it took for them to respond to my upgrade email, about 5 mins, I'd say their customer service is on the ball with this issue.

OK Thanks - maybe will do that then - means they will get all the money in any case rather than steam.

Nefaro

Is there anything new & shiny in this DLC or is it just a scenario-campaign pack?

I think it is just a scenario and campaign expansion pack. The biggest change I noticed, was the inclusion of the scenario editor, and some multiplayer functionality. But I don't know whether these are already included in the 1.04 release, without the Red Turn DLC.

Here's some of the blurb list of what is included:

QuoteGigantic Soviet campaign featuring 17 scenarios

Two standalone Axis scenarios including Zitadelle, the Battle of Kursk

Four dedicated PvP scenarios including the tightly contested Korsun Pocket

39 different types of units modelled, including Panther and T-34/85 armor

Heavy-hitting late war specialist steps such as ISU-122 and Tiger II

Great for modding, with Unity of Command 1.04 featuring a scenario editor

Ya know, Matrix/Slitherine used to be top quality distributors in my book.

But the long delay in:
- publishing Commander Europe at War GS 2.1
- patching Unity of Command
- releasing UOC DLC

....is really disappointing. They charge top dollar so I don't understand why they can't have timely releases.

ComradeP

Nefaro, it's essentially a scenario-campaign pack with new specialists and units (as well as a new map), but in my opinion (which, you could say, is biased) we're releasing it for a good price.

The scenario editor with new map might be in 1.04 as well, but I can't check easily as I have the latest/development version of everything.

jjdenver: Matrix is always AFK for about a month at the end of the year, that's what we have to live with. It's more of an inconvenience than a problem in my opinion, although it can be annoying when you want to patch something, which is the situation WitE had and UoC has now.
