Gobsmacked really. I had to spend mucho moolah to get this game imported.

But really good news.

They've lowered the price to around $30 (£18.99).

Woah... I wish they would give us all Desura keys. Because that would make it a lot easier to update and keep track of the game!

Have they actually updated the game lately?
I was under the impression they stopped ever since they released CoE3.

Just a small bugfix patch here and there.
And there should be one just over the horizon, or so is the word over at the shrapnel forums.
Nothing major for a long long time, though.
But the game has little issues as it stands, so patches are not really needed. Mods fill the gaps too.

Huh.  It's listed as discontinued at Shrapnel.  Guess getting the sweet manual is out of the question now.

Yeah it's a shame, I'd have loved that manual.  But there was no way I'd ever have spent that kind of money anyway.  Dominions 3 is close to the top of my must-buy list though. :)

Oh man... it is a GREAT game.

But I am sad about that manual. I spent a lot of time reading it over and over, looking at all the artifacts, pouring over the spells. It was my go to "sitting around bored" reading for some time.

Looks like Illwinter is breaking off of Shrapnel. Strange, but not necessarily a bad thing. I always thought they forced him to be a niche developer when his games were better than most indie games out there. In this day of ample indie outlets, there is no reason he needed to relegated to a $60 pricetag and mail order system.

Thanks.  I'm not sure when I'll get around to playing it because I'm still hopelessly addicted to Guild Wars 2, but this is a rare occasion when I had enough money to buy it so I had to have it.  I shall be up for getting my arse kicked via PBEM at some point. :D
