Taking a day off from reviewing, I fired this beauty up again. The elegance in gameplay and strategy is awesome. Anybody who considers themselves a strategy gamer needs this game!

Don't hesitate. It's a fun game.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

It is fun.
I was a beta tester for the game and I quite enjoyed it. I played it quite a bit then so it's been on the back burner but I'm getting a craving again...

I was dissapointed that this game didn't gain much more attention than it did - it's a really clever design that is easy to play and rich in decision making wargame goodness.  I'm primarily a board wargamer but this is one that I'll go back to over and over again, probably because it's almost like a PC version of "Victory in the Pacific" or "Fire in the Sky" boardgames.

I was hoping to find more games by this game programer (John Hawkins); doing a Google brings up his LinkedIn page which lists "Rise of Nations", "Age of Empires III" and "Kingdoms of Amalur" as his main project list.

I think I'll start up a game right now as a matter of fact, it's that good and real quick to get going and just play.

I'll too add my thumbs up for this game. It is too bad that the developer didn't continue working on games like this.

If it was sold in Steam it will get a lot of attention just like Unity of Command.  Pretty approachable for the masses.

I really oughtta just avoid these forums during holiday season.  My "to buy" list just keeps getting longer and longer...

I really enjoyed the demo but $40 makes me pause - guess I am spoiled by all the Steam sales!  ;)

Martok,
You should DL the demo and check it out.

My bad - I see that WPP is $36 until Dec 31.

I've seen several reviews mention a pretty mediocre AI.   Did this get improved in patches?  Kind of important since multiplayer appears to be solely online, not PBEM.

Actually, it's $34 - so another 5% cheaper!

I'm also on the fence about this. Argh.

Here's the deal - it's a PTO wargame that satisfactorily allows you to game the entire war in one evening.

Turn-based, and they added a MP game in a patch.

Play as the Japanese and you'll have a pretty good challenge - as the Japanese did historically.

I captured a very brief snippet of the gameplay moons ago, testing the process:
