Does anyone else have a problem with Ubisoft?
Why is it easier to get a pirated Ubisoft game for free than it is to download and install a legitimate purchased copy of the same game?

I think it's safe to say a lot of folks (including here) have a problem with Ubisoft.  They're even worse than EA these days, which takes some doing.

They're better than they were a few years ago...DRM for Assassin's Creed is becoming less draconian as the years go by.

The game came with 2 sets of codes, only one of which was needed.
After I connected and, of course, used the wrong one I was disconnected
immediately after being told I had only four tries remaining.  Second reconnect
same thing but I must have typoed (fairly bad dyslexia here) because on the
third try it worked.  Never got asked for the first code ever.
This is a game I bought from GG on sale because I had purchased an original
at full price from a store and misplaced the slip of paper with the code.
Hard drive upgrade and tuff tits no code goodbye from Ubisoft.
It is a measure of my powerlessness that I had to buy again.
My son said "Dad you are stupid.  They already raped you."
Then he showed me where it was free.  Pirated of course and I won't do that
but where is my incentive not to?

Incentive? HA. As your son said they already got all they need from you. And they are better than they were but are still the worst out there when it comes to DRM.

Silent hunter 4 will be my last Ubisoft game.  Even when they were selling SH5 for $1 on their online service, not worth the DRM / Ubisoft account hassles.

I got Far Cry 3 as a gift for myself since I had installed a new graphics card to replace my dying one. Boy was that a pain in the rear to get it running, let alone to run not only through Steam, but through Ubisoft's own launcher. Not to mention there have been issues with some of Nvidia's drivers causing some games not to launch, I can see why some times a console is appreciated.

Of course, PC is where my strategy game heart lies, can't lose that :)

That's why I always check what the DRM is before I buy a game. For instance, my latest discovery is that Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition not only requires Steam to play, but also Games For Windows - Live. It looks like overkill to me and I won't be buying it.

As discussed in a previous thread, this is why I won't buy any more Kalypso games.  They're on the blacklist along with Ubisoft, EA and anything that requires GFWL.

DRM in general is wank, but what really pisses me off is needing an internet connection to play a single-player game.  I'll never buy those games, no matter how tempting Anno 2070 or Diablo 3 look.
