Shrapnel Sale on:

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=49422

I never know what to think.  These guys give away good stuff for free like winSPWW
then their sales...well they are having a sale.

Steel Panthers must be given away.

Those were the terms when the source code was released by SSI. Shrapnel et al can sell add-ons like scenarios and campaigns, but the core game must be free.

Like I said they are having a sale.  I love Steel Panthers.  It is too bad I have
to keep finding that fix so it doesn't feel like a bad acid trip.  winSPWW doesn't do that.

5% off is hardly a sale these days.

And I'll ask again (because I apparently feel obligated whenever this comes up) : How on Earth is Shrapnel still in business?

JudgeDredd

I don't get why it's so difficult to put pictures up for games.

I looked at a couple of game pages and there are some rather small images on there - but not "click for larger image". It's almost like they (and other websites) don't want to sell their product!

Have to agree.....I actually don't own a single game from them.  I have been tempted on a couple such as warplan pacific but never have pulled the trigger.  I wish at times their sales were a little more meaningful.  But I guess they are not much different then some other companies such as Hps and battlefront since they don't really do good sales either.

Well, it depends what you call "business" ... its just a website and a webshop - can get one of those for a few bucks a month these days. Is someone making a living out of it ? would be a better question.

Just another day on the BF forum ... one demented idiots reaction to BF disagreeing about the thickness of the armour on a Tiger II turret mantlet.

And it's this lack of advertisement and marketing abilities that causes a game like War Plan Pacific to sit in relative obscurity when it is a very brilliant game.  I can only think about what would of happened with it had Matrix published it.

Could see War Plan Pacific being very popular if the multiplayer supported Steam.

The answer is someone used to make a living out of it. Not sure if that's still the case.

I've heard rumors things aren't going too well there, but they're very short on specifics. I hope all is well. Shrapnel has produced some great games over the years.

They probably should've handed over publishing duties to someone with more capabilities long ago.
