Has there been an international outpouring of outrage against Russia? Or is the world media spinning this into it somehow being anyone's but Russia's fault?

I wouldnt expect protests and riots. not with this generation of yoots. if fact, and most surprisingly, only the BBC seems to be pulling its punches. you know you fucked up when msnbc and fox are pretty much in agreement.

All this BS the separatists and Russians are engaged in, trying to shift blame and dodge responsibility is what puts me over the edge. It really speaks to how immature and backwards Russian culture is.

Ok, it hugely sucks to have mistakenly downed a civilian airliner with your shiny new SAM battery. I'm not even saying step forward and take responsibility. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt (despite the pretty clear signals intel on this). Just be a responsible nation state, agree to the investigation, provide honest security for the impact site, and shut up until the UN monitors announce some findings and the bodies of the dead have been repatriated.

Putin and these ultra-nationalist man-boys can't swing that though. They're like a bunch of five year-olds all looking at the floor and trying to blame the broken lamp on the dog, or the neighbor. Guess what, Boris? Your little chest-beating camping trip power fantasy just got real. You screwed up. You want to be a nation state? Start acting like one.

That's an interesting thought. I think you have to consider the impact of this more on opinion in the West in general rather than just the US, but this might be a similarly crystallizing event.
