The game never clicked with me but I have to disagree with Boggit: following enchantress is far more deep and complex then warlock. There are far more things you can do including personally creating your own units and choosing their upgrades. Battles are tactical requiring you to choose positioning and when you want to use certain spells and such. Having played warlock I find it to be more like Panzer general or you're just moving guys around.  enchantress is a very complex game it just never clicked with me
You make a fair point. I'm mainly going on impression. I'd just got the sense that there was more going for Warlock in many ways, but as you say you can do lots of things in FE that you can't do in Warlock. Still haven't found any ships though... ;) Don't get me wrong, I do like FE:LH and it is very moddable in game, but Warlock does at least have ships, and sea monsters! :-)

I think the first ship I got.. I found.. the next one, I think I made, but can't remember.. lol.. I'll have to open an old save if I can find one and to screenshot.. I couldn't get it to battle other ships (nothing would happen).. but I was able to transport armies.. only thing is, you could only land them at beaches... most of the land you cannot land from with the high coastlines.. Maybe only certain races can create them?

I don't think I've ever gotten the bad taste out of my mouth from the first Elemental game to enjoy this one or any of the others. FE: LH is a better game but, some where it seems it lost something, too many things got removed from the original Elemental.

So naval units move armies around, but they can't fight each other?  Huh.

Well that's consistent with other strategy games (such as the Civilization and Total War series), and it makes a certain amount of sense in any case.  Generally speaking, I imagine you'd want to be able to land troops where they could disembark easily.

I doubt it, unless it's perhaps restricted to just the Men (Kingdoms) or the Fallen (Empires).  The ability to transport armies across water would be too potentially unbalancing to bestow it upon only 2-3 factions.

And *that* is why -- among other reasons -- I'm glad I never played the original one!

I am almost sure there are no ships in FE at all.
At one time in the Elemental development cycle  were ships, but as mentioned before they were removed.

If you do find ships in FE I would love to see some screenshots and get to know where and how. :)

I've got a game going at the moment. I haven't seen any, but if I do I'll shout! I'm playing the Urxen atm. I played Altar in my last game, but didn't see any ships. I think I'll try walking a unit into the sea, to see (if you'll excuse the pun) whether they create a transport.

found an old save where I had ships.. game before current game.. I think I 'found' them.. in like dock style ruins.. I don't think I could create new ones.. I also couldn't attack an enemy transport.. I wonder if you needed to have units on both to do that.. You can see that I have an Army loaded.

Boggit

Well that's really good. Now I don't need to be trapped on a spit of land! The issue is now how to get them working? Thanks for that Tuna, good progress is being made here. :)

The game is on sale this weekend on Steam for $9.99. The rest of the Stardock titles are on sale as well. It amused me to look at the sale and realize I own almost all of the games already.   :o

Tuna

I was trying to search forums for info.. sounds like in the beginning they had no ships at all.. I think they were having trouble getting the AI to use them properly.. So I may have gotten them by quest, cause I definitely couldn't build more.. I wonder if you had a town near a beach and could build a dock, if you could then build ships.. There aren't a 'ton' of beaches.. But they are there..

Tuna

The game is definitely worth 10 bucks!.. I've gotten some good playing time out of it!  O0

Martok

That's fascinating, Tuna!  I congratulate you on coming across something in the game that I have not.  (Of course, I've hardly played FE:LH exhaustively, so I shouldn't talk. ::) )

Nice.  I know a few folks who could use a copy.  8)

+1, although I have played FE quite a lot. :) Never came across ships, though and remembered from the Stardock forums they had been removed. A nice find! It's good to see they are in afterall... somewhat. ;) Like a prestige object!

Steam notified me last night that Gus was playing FELH. Another one succumbs to temptation! ;)
