You gonna get past the tutorial at any point, Geek? :P

I love it when the explososkeleton walks near his friends and my archer lights him up with a fire arrow blowing them all up :)

You will get a chance to "hire" a companion of any class, while still questing in the city.  So you're not only limited to the Mage and Knight.  They're not too expensive to hire, either.  Just enough to make you not wanna switch often.  I don't want to give away any spoilers as you'll get it unlocked whilst doing the main quest.

So don't let the two available freebie NPC companions restrict your character class selection (or customization if you spend your points manually).

I got the Mage at the Library, and then I hired a Rogue in my game (have a Knight and a ..Wizard as my mains IIRC).

Spent a fair few hours playing today still trying to solve the murder:)

This is definitely going up there in my fav RPG list.

Grim.Reaper

Interesting tutorial videos, especially character creation...no idea if he is right or not, but at least talks through the selection process:)

Yeah. You really have to work to solve the cases. It's not easy

Just found a good tip:

QuoteI just realized not everyone knows this:

In combat, on the right side of the screen you have an icon that allows your character to WAIT. When he waits, he'll move at the end of the turn. So if enemies are out of range and generally there's very little to do, you click that button and let them move a little, maybe closer to the end of the turn there will be a better opportunity to spend the points productively.

I never noticed this button either, but it sure would've came in handy at times.  I only noticed the "Retreat" button there.  ???

I'm still wandering around the same town I figure out who murdered this guy. I'm having fun but I assume eventually I will be allowed to leave the town and go do other missions and other parts of the world? I mean the whole thing doesn't take place inside this one town does it?

From reading parts of a few guides, I get the impression that it does.

have you done what ahru asked you to at the gates - to go meet him further into the town and he will discuss the crime with you then?

You're totally free to leave Cyseal and go yonder, but that's a bit too hardcore for me on the default difficulty settings (I got totally raped by the undead roaming the countryside - the enemies will have higher level than your characters, so beware!). I'd advise to do as undercovergeek suggests, if you need more guidance. There's also at least a couple NPC's you'd love to bring on your boat before even venturing out of the town, by the way.

Restarted with a ranger and a wizard. So far its going better then my ranger/knight game.

I think an all range party is the way to go. Melee either takes too long to get into the fight or spends to much time healing to be very effective.

You're right - being able to deal damage at any range seems to be the way to go. The recruitable NPC's I have found so far have been good to complement my initial fighter/battlemage build.

How big is the world?

The world currently consists of four big zones. There is a short loading screen in between zones, but you can play around in one zone for hours without ever seeing a loading screen, so one zone is actually pretty large. It's possible that more zones are added as a result of the Kickstarter campaign.

I'm really disappointed at how melee seems to be "under powered" compared to range. There are times when I just want to beat things with a 2-handed sword or axe.

How is the battlemage working out for you? I've seen several guides now that recommend not doing hybrid classes.
