Thanks asid....will it still be $15 for the manual and can ou order yet?

There has been no indication of a price increase. I would wait to order it until the page is updated and says "(3.xx). See the picture it shows currently manual version 2.654.

Sounds good...thanks.

The manual isn't all that large, is it?

I copied it over to my Kindle Fire mostly what I use it for - reading PDF manuals.  But I've not read it since the in-game Tutorials were good enough to get me up to speed.

I'm sure there is some Mission Editor functionality that would be handy to read up on, however.

The existing one is 145 pages (788 KB in size). I have attached it here. Check out the "docs" folder in the install dir. It is full of useful PDF's. The in game tutorials are great as is the wiki.

Next GrogHeads Steel Beasts meet.

You do not have to play. Come and listen or chat. If you have SB you can even "observe" in game without taking part. See reply 4 on page 1 of this thread "Online/Multiplayer"

The mission for Tuesday.

Brief: Insurgents have taken the bridge at Abu Halam. You are to take it back. You have 1 mixed company of British equipment  including Challenger2, Warrior, along with 3 tubes of M109A3 and 3 tubes of mortars for arty support.

This version lacks map updates for enemy units.

1. Bandits and terrorists have taken the village of Abu Halam. The bridge at Abu Halam is of importance in the area for it is the only suitable bridge in the area for tanks.

2. Your mission is to take the bridge from the terrorists.

3. Your force consists of a mix of units that were resting at our base. This includes a platoon of Challenger2s, a platoon of Warriors, some militia. You have some artillery that you can call for support.

4. Terrorist forces consist of technicals and infantry. There have been reports that the local terrorists have obtained Toophan 1 ATGMs and launchers.

5. The weather is expected to worsen as the day progresses. Current conditions are winds from the NW at 1m/s, temperatures are at 40 degrees centigrade. Temperatures are expected to drop, with winds and clouds increasing as a storm rolls in. No precipitation is expected.

6. Good luck!

Note: Artillery support consists of 3x M109A3 with 22xHE and 6xSmoke shells per piece. 3x 81mm mortars with 40x HE and 8 Smoke shells per piece.
You can end the mission whenever you wish, there is no scoring, you will know if you did well or not. You should not suffer many losses however.
This version lacks map updates on enemy units.

Note: This is a modded version of "Government Action (3.002)" by TankHunter.

So I am picking up the SB Pro PE v3.0, Time-Limited License 1-Year..... is this what everyone else has purchased as well?  I will try to be on Tuesday, even though I will probably be just a moving target.

I think Nef picked up the dongle and UCG went for the month (as I have at present)

I'm going for the year licence - but I do want to check with them about changing hardware etc before I do so

Some people get the 1 month as a taster then purchase either the Dongle or the 1 year license.

Judge Dredd bought 1 month and is buying 1 Year
Nefaro bought 1 month and bought the Dongle

The 1 Year does make financial sense as it costs about the same as the dongle including any paid updates in a 5 year period. I know many people that have been using SB since 1999 so it is a simulation with depth and longevity. The dongle gives you flexibility to move to any machine.

You will be hard pushed to find anyone who has tried SB and has not continued with it.

This is official

PC stolen/lost ?Then License is Lost

Moving to a new pc? Not possible (but a workaround exists, see below).

Create a backup of C:\ProgramData\CodeMeter\CmAct
This  folder  contains  the  encrypted  license  files.  If you simply
reinstall  Windows  you can restore this folder after reinstalling the
CodeMeter runtime, and things SHOULD work normally - provided that you
didn't  change the Windows registration code along with other hardware
elements that the CodeMeter runtime uses to verify the validity of the
license.
We're  tracking  a  fingerprint of five elements, e.g. network adapter
MAC  address,  harddisk  serial number, CPU ID; three of the five must
remain the same not to render the license invalid.

If  you are planning to replace the PC, it's best to time the purchase
of  the  new hardware with the expiration date of the license. If that
isn't possible, you can still configure the old PC as a license server
in the "Configuration | Network Server" tab of the CodeMeter WebAdmin.
The  new PC can then borrow its license from the old PC, provided that
they are connected vial network.

Thanks a lot for that Asid...I really appreciate that.

Unfortunately though, that is actually a huge put off. I've got enough to do with games that require to uninstall, un-licence, re-licence without having to NOW remember to time future PC updates with when my hardware changes.

No thanks.

I'm not out - I'm probably going to buy the dongle.
