Apocalypse 31

Just a heads up, Asid walked me through the 64-bit process via Teamspeak.

There is a MASSIVE difference between the two versions.

I'd highly suggest upgrading to the 64-bit if you havent had a chance.

It was a fun & challenging scenario.   O0

You did a great job as CO  O0

The Ah64's came in handy  :knuppel2:

I second that, great job at CO Nef.  It can be a curse to be good at CO, you might find your self in that position a lot.  Nice having a dedicated commander position directing us around the battlefield.

How can you check the status of your licence?

I just bought a new 4 month licence today. I got a link to activate it, but I hadn't clicked on it - and yet I was able to go and play Steel Beasts - even though *I think* the licence ran out on the 25th August (I have an email confirming my purchase on the 25th July)

So - either my old licence hasn't ran out for some strange reason, or the new licence enabled automatically...??

Actually, the licence was activated on the 16th July...the 25th July is referring to the 64bit beta I activated...what gives? Does it activate automatically?

The little eSim Codemeter says the licence is active - but doesn't say how long or what type

3.019 beta Release notes HERE: http://www.esimgames.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/SBProPE-3.019-X64-Readme.pdf

This will only work with a 64bit OS and must be either Windows 7 or 8.

It seems to run smoother and allows larger maps to be edited and created. When on-line the whole process seems smoother and faster. It is in essence the 64bit version of the network code which made a great difference on-line.

Grim.Reaper pm sent :)

Map load times are near instant in some cases. Messing around with the editor, things are noticeably smoother

We were using the v3.019 Beta.  The Beta doesn't expire until the end of the year.  I'm pretty sure that is what was running on yours (and was never deactivated).  Your beta version will be good until it expires whether you buy time/dongle or not.

Picked up the beta version tonight...sent the email and rather quickly got a response back with the activation code for the license...pretty quick and painless.

Training

DOGS OF WAR MBT Basic Training Syllabus
Basic training in this context assumes that students are 'newbies' not only to Steel Beasts but to armoured vehicle operations generally. Students should have completed the tutorial section for the tank used during the training exercises and be competent in operating it. The training takes place on the SB map representing the Puckapanyal military training area, north of Melbourne, home to the Australian Army's School of Armour.
Training progression, dependent of individual students' expertise, will be: Tank Commander, Section Leader (Two tanks), Platoon Commander. Exercises will be repeated as required to ensure individuals gain experience in each role in a timely manner.

Phase 1.
Phase 1a. Map Study. Covers, but is not necessarily restricted to:
1.   Terrain awareness. How to use the map view to provide a good mental picture of the terrain and plan routes from one point to another to minimise the possibility of ambush and maximise offensive potential.
2.   How to move along those routes using the mutual support method known as 'travelling overwatch', in which only one section of two tanks moves at any time, while the other section over-watches their progress and engages any enemy that threatens that movement.
3.    How to identify good battle positions
4.   How to approach and leave such battle positions, minimising the chances of detection.
5.   Communications within the platoon during such manoeuvres.
Phase 1b. Pure manoeuvre training with no enemy putting into effect lessons learned in Phase 1a.
Takes place on the 'open country' section of the range with a platoon of four tanks plus a 'C.O' tank manned by an instructor.
Phase 1c.
As above but students can expect to encounter and deal with light enemy resistance.
Phase 1d.
As above but with increased enemy resistance.
Note: Students should expect varying enemy resistance during all exercise from this point forward.

Phase 2.
Phase 2a. Introduces the concept of tanks in support of a Mechanised Infantry Company. The MI will normally be run by an instructor as Company Commander while students man the tanks.  Open country lane. Tanks lead.
Phase 2b.
As per Phase 1c, ending with the infantry in position to make an assault on a defended hilltop objective.

Phase 3.
Takes place on the more wooded lane of the range.  Mech Inf leads.  Although the Company Commander is the Mech Inf commander, it is the job of the tank platoon leader to identify potential ambush points and ask the Mech Inf commander to clear them before proceeding.
Phase 3a, 3b, 3c.
Selected exercises from Phases 1 and 2, depending on individuals' progress, but the final exercise is as per 2a.

Version 3.0 printed manuals now available

Posted by Ssnake on Sep 3rd, 2014 in Announcements, Software Releases

The eSim Games web shop now offers the new printed manual for version 3.0. Here: http://www.esimgames.com/?page_id=1361

The revised edition contains approximately 180 pages (the old one had 150 pages), incorporating the latest changes as preliminary describes in the release notes for version 3.002 and 3.011. It expands mainly the following chapters:

Installation and Setup to address the most commonly asked questions about CodeMeter license management
The Mission Editor to generally explain things better, and also to describe the creation of Operations
    Exercise Management

However, no chapter has been left untouched.

The PDF version will be made available for download on SteelBeasts.com, and as a part of the installation with the final update for version 3.0 before the end of the year.
