DOW Australian Penetration COOP by Cougar11

This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message.

Mission Summary :
Current conditions in the South Pacific Region have shown major aggression by the Peoples Liberation Army, and the Peoples Liberation Navy first taking Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and have finally landed on Australia. The PLA/PLN if successful will control a significant land mass to control the South Pacific from. Their goal is entire control in the region. Current situation is the PLA and control over a strategic area around the town of Verda. The ADF is tasked with retaking the area, and pushing PLA forces out of the region. Mission is to find, destroy, and or push back PLA forces, take back control of the area, and prepare for follow on missions.

WARNING ORDER

This Sunday's mission is something a bit different to our standard fare and more ambitious than usual.

When:   http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...0207T19&p1=%3A

TS server: teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077

CATASTROPHE FOR SWEDEN.

Soviet Forces have made a totally unexpected and unprovoked attack on Sweden. NATO has rushed NRF forces to oppose them, accepting Sweden as the 29th member of NATO in the process. The Swedes have done what they can to slow the Soviet advance but are under extreme pressure and being forced to fall back.

As soon as our Danish battlegroup arrives it will team up with 72nd Swedish Mech Inf Btn in order to stop the Soviet advance and start a counter attack. The C.O has driven all night and the situation is very confused. He has therefore had little opportunity to make detailed plans and must respond as best he can 'on the fly'.

This is a big scenario with a lot going happening on a big map with retreating Swedish forces scripted and visible in the 3D view. The C.O's situation will be simulated by posting the .sc file only few hours before mission start time which will allow him to do some terrain reconnaisance and draw up a rough plan - but not much more. In any case, the enemy's tactical intentions are unclear so he will have to react to their initiatives as best he can. A perfect opportunity for those who find the whole planning process a bit tedious! The scenario requires at least 12 players, and if we fall short we will save it for another day and run Panzer Leaders's CT Heavy Delay again.

If so, the emphasis will be on timely withdrawal, breaking contact and retreating in good order to be relieved by reinforcements. A full briefing for that mission can be found here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/...ad.php?t=22391

But I would encourage as many people to attend if at all possible so that we can run the planned mission. You won't regret it.

Team Iron Campaign Missions

By Cougar11 of the Dogs Of War

!!!!!!Warning Order!!!!!!

The IRIA has attacked into Iraq crossing and taking the city of Basra and Faw. They have seized the ports and supply routes into Iraq. Kuwait and Iraq have asked for assistance. Nato and US command have determined that for national security interests, regional allies, international supply, and open hostilities, that your force 3rd Brigade ABCT Team Iron of the 4th infantry Division will spearhead US and NATO forces. Brigade objective is to penetrate, and destroy as many forces of the front line of the IRIA 72nd Armored Division(+), push into the Division rear area, and force the 72nd to retreat out of Iraq, and away from the border. Brigade strength must be maintained at 40% of combat forces at all times, and if it drops below we will be forced to fall back to Iraq boundaries. Minimum success is to make the IRIA to return to Iranian boundaries. Moderate success is to push into Iran defeating the second line of forces, and reducing the 72nd to below 70% strength. Major success is to reduce enemy forces to 50% or less in the 72nd, and push into or beyond the third line of forces. Your brigade will be flanked to the North by 1st and 2nd brigade to keep any major flanking maneuvers from threatening that flank. Your forces will have responsibility of your Southern and Southeastern flank. You are required to "designate a force to secure that flank prior to missions, and cannot be from the previous mission. Terrain around Basra is mostly flat and sandy. The further east you travel, the more hills, and mountains you will run into. As you go, there will be increasingly more narrow avenues of approach, limiting your attack options, and allowing the enemy to better engage you.

The command staff has recently returned to the US leaving all the Brigade and Battalion leadership positions open. This serves as a request for 2-4 leadership volunteers to take command of the upcoming battles. Each mission will need a CO and XO, and will swap the next weekend, and have backup commanders for either in game, or if there is an event they need replacement prior to mission events. Please apply with your command staff.

Same rules will apply to the enemy forces as do to friendly forces. Enemy forces will almost always outnumber friendly forces, and the ratio will grow higher the further into Iran most likely.

Does the Leo 2 have a compass or way of telling what direction the tank is orientated? Even on the map view I can't work this out.

Hi IronX

In the bottom right corner there is a vector drawing of a tank complete with turret. Up is north. The turret is independent. You will notice a small white dot. This is the camera direction (the direction you are looking). The front of the tank is distinguished by a small square on the tank.

In the below example. The camera is looking west (white dot). The tank is facing south (notice small square) and the main gun is pointed east.

You can also change the "realism" setting in the options menu to "Low" this will give further aid to orientation.

Hope this helps.

IronX

Got it, thanks!

I could see the tank and camera changing position, but wasn't aware it was orientated to north. Obvious when you know!

I guess as long as there is GPS a tanker knows where he his and could tell by instinct what direction he is pointing. I clearly need a little extra help, however!
