That thought had occurred to me as well. It's not like there is a shortage of guns around Abel. Imagine the tender moment between Jax and Abel when Jax asks, "Abel, why did you shoot Grandma"? "Because she killed mama, daddy". Perhaps the moral of Sons of Anarchy is that it really effs up the next generation.

I once read a book about an ATF agent who infilterated a 1%er club, the only undercover to actually be patched by a major OMC. Once inside, he was surprised at the real sense of brotherhood and belonging he felt in the club to the point that, when it came time to testify, he was really torn. He wrote there was a bond of brotherhood among the bikers that he never felt between fellow ATF agents and how the ATF would screw you over before a fellow biker would. The book is called "Under and Alone" by William Queen and you can find it on Amazon. It's a good read.

Thanks for the book reference Steelie. The show is over the top, but I'm interested in the actual culture. It's fascinating in the way that Sopranos was with the mob stuff.

You're welcome. I'm the same way. If something interests me, I often read everything I can on the subject. Heck, when checking Amazon for this book, I saw another one about 1%ers which grabbed my attention so I bought it  8)  To me, the fascinating thing about both The Sopranos and Sons is the depth of their cultures, how different it is from our worlds, but also about how you start to sympathize with a character, to understand their motivations, to like them....then they do something horrid and you are abruptly reminded that they are sociopaths.

Sons has been my favorite show since it premiered (although The Walking Dead and Justified are close). Looking back, I have come to the conclusion that Sutter is a master at creating interesting characters. Bobby Munson doing Elvis in the first season, Happy with his smiley face tats for each kill, Gemma, Chibs, each is a believable person with a backstory you can buy into. Has there ever been anyone like Tig with his innumerable fetishes, sick humor and paranoia of dolls? Sutter writes sharp dialogue which brings the best out of each cast member (Tig to Happy..."I like doing jobs with you. When we go on a job together, I'm the normal one"  or Clay asking Tig "what sick things did your mother do to you"? You can really buy into the brotherhood idea with these guys, buy into the myth because of the depth of what Sutter has created.

Where Sutter fell short, imho, is the convoluted storylines. I just don't get the impression that actual gangs play quite so many angles. Their interactions tend to be more...direct. And since Opie died, Jax has become less sympathetic a character with his over the top acts of vengeance. The stupidest, least believable thing Jax has done involved Jury's fate. Not even Clay would have gone that far, at least not in front of everyone. And this storyline with the preacher's wife and stepson...I'm not even sure what the hell is going on there right now.

Nonetheless, four episodes left and I will miss the show greatly when it's gone. It could run another seven seasons and I would watch every episode. Great shows like Sons don't come along every day and I've enjoyed the ride.

Completely agree. It's a shame, though not a surprise, that this show's been so ignored by all the Awards-Lords. I can remember being stunned in season 1 when Tig killed Opie's wife by mistake at the stop light. It was one of those "Oh Shit" moments this show is so famous for.

One person they don't mention is Barosky (Peter Weller)....kind of thinking he might be it since guns were at his dock and he hasn't had much of a role this year...would think he should go out in some kind of style...but who knows, just a thought.

It was an interesting episode for sure, with the highlight being the revenge scene and of course, the last scene where it appears Jax will start to understand the truth about Tara....only 3 episodes left I believe, so a lot will need to happen quickly.

I am starting to think "rat" is actually the rat of the crew.  Thinking his girlfriend also had access to Gemma's house where her birds were killed and someone wrote on the walls so maybe a tag team thing.  If not rat, then I stand by my other theory of borasky being it:)

I read a review which suggested the same thing. Rat got a lot of camera time and recognition from Jax this episode and has become a larger part of the series this season. Of course, Jax sponsored Rat so we don't know what their relationship was prior to Rat being patched. Either way, we'll know three weeks from now.
