I have Air Cav, too. Found it rooting around in some boxes...almost pulled it out because it was a lot of fun...but there's too much on the table at the moment.

Very cool...and a coincidence for me as I was punching RAF (V2) counters earlier in the day. Still working through the rulebook but have the map under the plexi and a pretty good idea of what's to come after watching StukaJoes excellent tutorial video over on BGG. Going to be my summer vaca game.

I had a fair number of WEG board games.  My problem was convincing anyone from my gaming group to give them a try.  I was into Squad Leader.  They wanted to play Talisman or Cosmic Encounters or other such games.

I had:

Soldiers
Pax Britannica
Air Cav
Fire Team
Star Wars: Star Warriors

And a U.S. Civil War game but I can't recall the title.

I also recall playing WEG's Air & Armor which was pretty much just another hex & counter game except for the hidden strength step markers, which made for some nice fog of war (in such a lower counter quantity platoon/company scale game).  I'm surprised more wargames haven't used something similar.

I suppose there were some rather innovative or unusual mechanics in a few of these West End wargames that left an impression.

Oh hell, I have Star Warriors up there, too. Another game that didn't get to the table much.

Let me know what you think of it.....  I would be interested to hear your personal experience from playing.

The RAF re-release's counter punching still frustrates me, just thinking about it.

Still have yet to play from the German side.

The RAF v2 counters are high grade stuff, but not at all suitable for actual punching. Cutting instruments were required. I used box cutters to remove them from the sprues and a hobby knife for cleaning up the edges. Came out so cleanly I'm going to take a pass on clipping the corners.

Am also planning to source some glass mosaic tiles as a cool way of marking squadrons on patrol. Found a good candidate online with 5/8'' tiles...exactly matching the chit size.

I'll spare Cyrano the gory details and accompanying photos, but I've been organizing cards and outlining some ideas for a Commander deck and a Standard deck for MTG.  I have a horribly non-competitive collection of cards but fuck it.  I'm going in to have some fun and hopefully beat a couple of fellow geeks who have $$$ decks.

We have around 1000 cards ranging from Portal / Starter sets up to some 8th edition stuff. We just say 'sod it' and construct decks that we like, at least for playing at home.

Yeah I'm a casual playing noob.  I'm just happy when I have the right colored spells to match my lands in my decks.  :D  I am planning on going to a midnight pre-release for MTG Origins in mid-July.  I'm looking forward to it.

Dip your hands into the gory remains of our hobby if you must.  Rationalize the grim spectacle however you will.  Nefaro and I will be over in a dimly lit corner playing with his micro-Hummels.
