I finally, several months after buying it, opened up GMT's Hoplite and started trying a few scenarios. I am hooked/. This is a great game and a great system. I think I'll be ordering some more GBOH titles very soon.

Starting to get in a lot more gaming lately and really enjoying it.

Saturday - ASL (J103 "Lenin's Sons").  Played against a veteran ASL player but it was a see-saw match.  I had an early edge, and then his hidden commissar with HMG and squad popped up and did some heavy damage.  It looked totally lost by mid game but then I picked up a bit of momentum, but not enough to satisfy the victory conditions.  We have a rematch scheduled for Sunday:






On the table (new table :) ) at home I've had the Cornfield scenario for "None But Heroes" set up for 2 weeks now and finally sat down last night and started it solitaire.  So far I'm losing again to myself but maybe I'll pull out a win as the Confederates, unlike the historical outcome.   :P

Thanks BH.  No, I picked up that tower at an ASL tournament several years ago.  My attempts at making one produced mediocre results. 

One that I've been keeping an eye on is from "Kevin's Cabins".  He makes dice towers at very reasonable prices but he's on break right now catching up on past orders.  This one is kind of cool:

I built my own as well. For a first try it's functional. I have plans to make a nicer one though... just need to invent 36 hours days first.....

Thanks!  I really love it.  There's no other way that I could of had a game set up completely undisturbed for over 2 weeks otherwise.  I do wish that it were 4" wider to accommodate the standard 34" wide mapsheet.  That's a future table project though (bigger house too probably).  I also wish that my POS camera phone took better pics like your camera/phone!  What did you use there?

Amazingly, that's my HTC M8, which has a reputation as having a crappy camera. I've found it takes surprisingly decent board gaming photos.

Thanks! I have to admit that I'm usually more in Vance's camp of not clipping, but I saw some pictures and video of someone else playing this game with nicely clipped counters and liked the look. The Napoleonic 20 stuff I've been playing also has laser cut counters with rounded corners and I think I'm getting used to that as a standard.
