Yes they did.  Police Quest, Space Quest, Heroes Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc. 
They did shooters like Swat (Police Quest spin off).
And the well-loved wargame Civil War Generals!

They were at the top of my gaming list along time ago. Played all the Hero's Quest[which changed to Quest for Glory] and King's quest games. Hell they dominated the shelf space back then.

Sierra had stuff like Lords Of Magic and some other fantasy RPG  type stuff.  The SWAT games.  I don't think they did a lot of sims or wargames, although I do vaguely recall they had a smattering of flight sims long ago.

I'll have to look when I get home but I'm pretty sure Sierra had a subdivision called Dynamix that did the "Aces" series of flight sims which were pretty doggone good for the times.

Yes.  I remember the old Mosquito game from Dynamix.  Way way back.

I always think of Lords of Magic and Lords of the Realm 2 in association with Sierra. 

Here's hoping it's a true revival, and not a terrible, dark necromancer simply raising a zombie to spit out games for smartphones.

It's just a name at this point, isn't it?  I don't think they're going to round up the old gang or anything so I suspect it's more just banking on nostalgia than anything.

I think that goes without saying. 

However, if Activision wishes to truly capitalize on that nostalgia, they're going to have to allow Sierra to produce the types of games that they used to.  Otherwise, this is going to backfire on them big-time, and turn into nothing more than an empty/meaningless ploy.
