This would work out better than Sunday right now, for me.  I've been having company over for football on Sunday lately.  Although I will probably have company over this whole weekend so I'm not sure if I'll be there for the first one.

Sounds like a mess huh?  :))

As mentioned elsewhere this is 0500 Sunday for me (earlier assuming I get up before then :)).

Such disruptions in the household are only tolerated to LNoT or Rolling Thunder type events where the return on investment is 12 or so hours, as opposed to 2.

Hope it goes well for those in time zones more suitable.

Apocalypse 31

The great thing about DoW is that EVERY night is LNOT

Well with respect it isn't.

LNoT and Rolling Thunder are structured events planned well in advance with three or four missions that are linked. There are supporting OPORDs published and manning tables.

I'm more than happy to invest a bit of time getting things at home sorted out so I can be up at 0430, at the desk by 0500 and ready to go for the next 12 or so hours.

T.A.N.K.S. and DOW in general, is more of a 24/7 drop in centre for those who can make it.

Disturbing the household at 0403 for something that is planned to go for 2 hours is not sustainable as its over before everybody else has even got up to have breakfast.

Certainly not saying its bad, just saying IMHO its not LNoT or Rolling Thunder.

This statement is based on what? Actual participation? NO.

Proper recon would not have led you to make such an erroneous statement. You are in luck however as the DOW are doing a recon tutorial soon O0 . Shall i add you to the list? ::)

Well I don't want to start something but in response.

1. Hard to do such a "recon" when your time frame is not suitable (as mentioned above).

2. The comment was not meant to be negative since you often start with 2hr published sessions and then subsequently post about being on for X hours and counting (far more than 2 hours).

3. Lastly no I'll skip the "recon training" since I've done enough of that in RL as a Cav unit crew commander, Tp Ldr, Sqn OC and Regt 2IC but thanks anyway.

Anyway good luck with it.

Dear Mr Gibson

In reply to the above. I would just like to say that your response is classic GibsonM.

As a real-world Recon Platoon Leader, and Company Commander I can tell you these missions are fun, a great way to spread knowledge, brush up on skills, and more importantly - build a team; obviously the training isn't geared toward guys with real world experience. It's for the new folks that are drawn to Steel Beasts, but want to improve.

T.A.N.K.S. meeting today. Great attendance.

One of the objectives in the background. We met heavy resistance.

Tjay

The way Dogs of War operates is a bit different to other V.Us. Although we have regular 'official' sessions on certain days of the week at fixed times, it is quite common to find DoW players in the TS channel at other times and not unusual for games to take place on a 'one off' or ad hoc basis. Now, this might not be to everybody's taste, but it is the way DoW operates, and it has proved to be very successful so far.  If you can't or don't wish to attend, it is NOT necessary to inform us.  Just keep stum and stay away. Simples.
