Interesting in how MSNBC and Fox both choose to cover it.

The local Moore, OK police did say that there's no evidence of an Islamic link to the attack, but asked the FBI to help investigate.  Both networks are right, but both seem to be exaggerating for effect in different directions.


It seems as though this guy was pissed about being laid off, and the most convenient weapon he had was a knife like they use at the food processing plant, and that's what he used to attack the first lady he saw.  He stabbed her multiple times before behading her, and was stabbing the next lady before he was shot.

His attack was stopped by a reserve deputy who happened to have a weapon in his car and shot the attacker.  "Why was a reserve deputy at a food processing plant?", you ask.  He's the Chief Operating Officer.  That dude's pretty cool.

That deputy is a hero.

Let's see what they turn up before jumping to conclusions about motive. The case appears complicated. The conversion is curious but may be unrelated. We'll find out. The good guys don't show any skill trying to proactively intercept the bad guys, but if they're one thing, they're crackerjack at figuring it out after the fact.

The conversion may be unrelated, no doubt. However, one has to wonder what the national media take would be if the murderer was Aryan Brotherhood, Westboro Baptist, or most heinous of all, a Rush Limbaugh listening NRA dues paying member of the Republican Party. Al Sharpton best hurry along with those AG recommendations now.

In total fairness, I suspect the perp will eventually be found to have mental health issues. And the deputy/COO deserves a medal.

Coincidentally, when I lived in OKC Vaughn Foods was one of my suppliers. And I've met Sheriff Whetsel a couple of times. He runs a well-respected department. Certainly in this incident, his department looks good.
