Counter Trays vs Market Containers

Wondering who purchases Counter Trays or uses their own brand of containers to store their counters.

I use small baggies. Craft stores or dollar stores sell them for bead jewelry.

Yeah, I also buy them in lots of 10 direct from GMT. There is only one guy (that I know of) who sells them in the UK. I can buy 10 from GMT, including postage, cheaper than I can buy 4 from him.

I've got a Plano fishing box for holding my SW and ST minis game figures.

Most games these days seem to come with baggies. If not I'll use a sandwich bag.

I get counter trays for some of the "bookcase" sized wargames.  But the larger ones usually get a hobby container or one of the small Plano kits.  I usually prefer the hobby ones since there are more slots and they still have a lot of space to dig around inside, but if the game pieces are large/long then the Planos with the adjustable slots is the way to go.

I currently have about 4 empites of each waiting for consumption.

I've used some of the GMT Trays, however I found these at WalMart in the craft section.... one thing I like about these is the long center area where you can store dice and other figures that are longer if need be.  20 tray areas plus on long one..... and is pretty slim and the container closes and locks.  I forgot the cost, but I think around $4 USD or so.

That's a good deep looking one. Looks considerably heavier though - looks like it's made from hard plastic.



I use trays. I haven't bought any in a while, but I will need more when Nimitz comes.

I really like the depth of these, PE.  I could see them taking the place of counter trays in my shallow boxes where the cheaper but taller hobby supply boxes don't fit as well.  A bit pricey at $4 but I've never liked the small space in the counter trays.

So do these fit in GMT size boxes okay?

GMT trays are best as they always fit in the box. Problem is there's usually too many counters to fit in a tray, so I usually resort to a tackle box or two. Often they will fit in the box too.

For my latest storage conundrum I am contemplating a home brew solution similar to the following for storing blocks. Some genius had the brilliant idea of pasting the OOB tables to the base.

Lol. Those nuts look like they could hurt.

I suspect they are intended for use as markers. When there gets to be too many blocks to fit comfortably in a hex the rulebook suggests marking the hex and moving the blocks off board. Those nuts look like nice they will fit nicely in a hex but can't see where any labels have been applied. Maybe on the bolts?

I use these Walmart boxes as well.  They are slim enough, and small enough to fit nicely in most boxes.  Cost is around $4.  I also use a piece of padded drawer liner in the lid to keep counters in their own space (small / thin counters can slip between the gap between the lid and body of the case).
