I just got notified that mine is waiting at home...surely the City can carry on without me while I go home and wax some drug warlords?

Are they preparing to don their bikinis again?

Cyrano

No, no, no...they stroll about as God made them...just want to look tidy in doing so...

As to the game, lots of thoughts, but this one is foremost at the moment.  Ogre Designer's Edition stands alone atop the mountain of pornographic gaming goodness.

This sucker, however, may summit the slightly lower peak -- and only slightly -- of wargame porny-ness...

It's silly and I love it.

Inside the box is the long-awaited mounted tactical board (nice so far), the extra troops and gear (with more battle dice...why I do not know), a revised rule set with clarifications and a couple new rules (NICE!!), the scenario book, counters (mostly additional ammo counters, but also stuff to cover the new gear added, plastic dividers for sorting your cards in the footlocker (YES!), and, most intriguingly, revised cards representing clarifications, re-costings, rejiggering of stats, &c.  I'll be spending much of tomorrow with this and am looking forward to it...

Hi Gents,
some time has passed by, who is still playing Warfighter from time to time and loving it.
i am especially interested in the solitaire experience (for a quick game of an 1h or 2)

Are the expansion #1 #2 #3  worth the money and probably the new  #5 speedball too?
(i am at the beginning not so much interested in RU and UK  soldiers, but the Easter Mission maybe so that would add  #8 )
should i take special attention to get a re-print version? or is the first edition OK?
(i will replace the bullet d10 dice anyway with normal dice)

The reason for resurrection this thread is:
I am at the Spiel2015 next weeks, and that is a good place to probably get the game without the tremendous shipping costs that had let me shy away from ordering it when it was released.

i had saved up money for "DVG Huey Leader" to get a that fare this year, but its far from release, so that purchase will have to be postponed to the next visit in 2016, and i want to bring something nice home from the drive.

Ok, so after going through all the stuff I have couple of observations.  I now have all the expansions and the war chest.

First Base Game:

The base game by itself is fine.  Some negative would be the Mat, the rule book is poorly organized and written, and I can not remember but the bullet dice is just ok and unusable without a dice tray.  The game can be very challenging, but the mechanics and flow are very good and intense.  The combo cards and weapons work very well together.  There is a lot of variety in the game with load outs, equipment and soldiers and they can be specialized or you can concentrate them.  Tons of replay-ability as the locations and enemies you face will always vary and the cards to respond as well.

Expansions (Round 1):  Of all the first 3 expansions I would say that Expansion 1 is probably the best as it adds more hostiles and equipment and locations.  Then would be Exp. 3 with snipers and mortars and then 2 with stealth which I rarely use and suppression which can be very handy.

Expansions (Round 2):  For me the Expansion 6 with UK soldiers is maybe the best out of the group.  A lot of soldiers, weapons and equipment with some added missions.  Next would be Exp. 8 the Eastern Adversaries followed by Exp 5 Speedball with added equipment etc... then Exp 7 with Russian Fed.

Footlocker:  This is not a gimmick, but maybe a over indulgence but  in a good way... There are nice dividers supplied along with corrected/adjusted cards, a scenario book, a very nice mounted board (a lot better than the mat), enough slots to hold about X100 expansions and a revamped rulebook with examples.  Some new counters for the weapons and some additional counters are included.  NIGHT MISSIONS!

To put it altogether, for me this game is a lot of a lot... .meaning there are so many combos you can use to obtain objectives it is quite insane the amount of stuff once all put together.  I really enjoy the game a lot, and the balance seems about right.... it is tough, but I really like a game that kicks your butt sideways or maybe not... you just never know how a mission turns out which in turn each play tells a story.  I recommend the game and all of the expansions, but then again I really like the game and more of it is a good thing for me.  The base game has enough there to dip your toes in to see if it is for you before you plunge like me head first in collecting everything.   I will say that the expansions are not fluff, they actually add a lot of value to the game with more variety and challenges.  I am also glad I picked up the Footlocker, it was worth it in my eyes.

Purchased through NWS Store.... easier on the wallet (but not according to my wife!)

THX for the inputs PE  O0
the basegame is surly on my shopping list now for Essen!
...and i guess some important expansions might see an impulsive buy ;)
(i am even thinking about the locker, because this is a large item i surly don't want to pay shipping for
while some more rounding up card deck expansions later are small and light, and locker brings the game to 'version 2.0'.  PE, what are the measurements of that box? )

Do you guys use card sleeves? ...and of what size please?

The box is 350mm x 230mm x 150mm (14" x 9" x 6") and around (6 lb.)

If shipping is a large cost, may need to pick up if interested.

Never did buy this...now I'm tempted to just buy everything that I can find. This could end badly.

Hell, this likely WILL end badly.  :P

Played one last night with the UK forces in the Middle East trying to reinforce an outpost.  My team leader caring the new AK-47 with +1 Penetration (that's what she said).  Needless to say we did not make it as at the end you have to keep the location clear for three straight turns......

MikeGER - That looks like a smaller dice tray than the pair I have.  I've been looking for a smaller one, as my current pair are about a foot in diameter (approx 0.3 m), but may end up having to find a wooden picture frame to convert.

I've not found smaller ones like your new one in that pic, the couple places I looked here in the US.  That one seems to be around 8 inches across.

Nefaro, its the Deep Dish tray by DVG
http://www.dvg.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/63/Deep%20Dish%20Counter%20Trays
(bought here: http://ugg2nd.de/de/Nach-Hersteller/Dan-Verssen-Games-ugg/Deep-Dish-Countertrays.html)

they are 8.5" x 11" and 7/8" deep
and the tray fits good into a DVG games box, here is my TAL example
