Someone from the UK can confirm but I always thought the accents of the Orks were South-London or Cockney or somesuch, circa 1900. Where's Bawb or ucg?

I always thought the accents of the Orks were a (nowadays a strong political incorrect) exaggeration of Afro American pronunciation from the past or certain slang using districts even today?

I get that it's a British IP, but I never understand why in film and media people living in ancient and futuristic times tend to have British accents. I mean Romans and Greeks did not have English accents. It's just a hunch, but people living 41,000 years in the future probably won't have English accents either.


Oh, and I finally have space marines in the campaign. I knew they had to be coming because I was fighting a scenario that I could not win. Their entry was less than dramatic. It's not critical, but the game really could use some more animation. One turn they are not there on the map and e next ey are all over the place. It would be nice to actually see the drop pods crashing in.

Anyway, the Space marine OOB does not disappoint. it's just as thorough as e steel legion's gear list.

It's all Cockney...that's why Nobz is pronounced "nobes" instead of the American "knobs" and is an orkish take on "nobles".  The others follow likewise...

Best single rendering of this I've ever heard was in the intro movie for the earlier PC implementation of Blood Bowl as they related the history of the "Nuffle Amorical League".  I still regard my Packers as playing for the Nuffle...and the red-headed spokesape is its commisar.

We Americans LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hearing most iterations of British English (that Yorkshire mess notwithstanding) and there are whole comedy bits about how you can tell one of my fellow colonists just about any horrible thing you can imagine, but, if you relate it in a nice accent, we'll smile knowingly and assume it was a compliment.

Ages ago I was working at a Renaissance Faire -- don't judge me -- and was sent on a promotional gig to a local mall.  My beloved and I were well bored and I, without her permission mind, decided to greet mall patrons with the following:

"Good give ye good den, m'lady (m'lord).  I am Sir Edward Coke, Attorney General to Her Majesty the Queen, and this is my lady wife.  I'm very pleased to announce that I'm turgid!"

Even allowing for the relatively limited vocabulary of the modern era, the fact that no one even flinched, and some smiled politely, has always gone a long way to explaining to my satisfaction why folks with British accents need not adopt another when they perform as Romans, Greeks, Persians, Medes, Jesus, &c., for American audiences.
