Also: Commander Pack is a third off now! Buy, gents, buy!

I hope it remains on sale for at least a few more days....I'm giving it serious consideration.

I think its over Monday. its says black Friday/cyber Monday sale. $12 a modules is pretty damn good.

I think I might have finally seen the light last night after playing the CO2 Return to St Vith scenario...  I never enjoyed CO1, partly due to scenarios not functioning at all like expected after multiple patches.   The original tutorial in CO1 was almost impossible to play the way the video tutorial played out after a while.    But last night I played out about 1/2 of that scenario on CO2, and it played like a dream.   I took the river crossing relatively early, and was pushing on the next 2 objectives.   I was having a hard time ejecting the Germans out of Lommersweiler, and foolishly left the river crossing undefended.   During the night a German force reoccupied it, pouncing on my arrogance.

So, today I'm going to decide what my Christmas purchases are going to be, and CO2 at $60 is certainly being considered again.

Yes I am very close to pulling the trigger as well, but we only have one more day left to decide... or hope there will be a similar sale right before X-Mas...

Are there any updates to these games? I have the Commanders pack from my original purchase and I cannot for the life of me find any updates. It's entirely possible there may not be any - but as far as I was aware, the briefings for the scenarios were going to get "situation" maps. Currently, those are only present for the 3 core scenarios.

Besides...come on...there must be a patch right?

There have been many patches.....when I installed the base game, it put an icon on my desktop for getting updates.  When you run that, it brings down and installs the latest patch...I believe latest version is 5.1.24

A lot more SAM's for the other modules now, not all yet.

Thank you GR. That icon was lost on my desktop!  O0

^ Well that did work - but what a mess.

Double clicking the icon actually fired up the game. That was the first thing. The next thing was it launched 5 (or 6) update applications which had to be dealt with individually. I have no idea if I did them in the right order or whether the order actually mattered. I assume not - but I don't know because now running the update shortcut gives me 5 dialog boxes - all errors - saying

C++ Runtime Error
Program E:\Command Ops 2\Update1.exe
abnormal program termination

And they all say that (replacing the number 1 with 2, 3 etc)  :idiot2:

Thanks budd - but that didn't fix it.

For info - the game runs. It's the updater that doesn't now. I know the game is "up to date"...I just re-ran the updater after updating to double check and the errors occurred.

In other words - if I can't get that fixed, I will not be able to update the game again when there is an update.

Perhaps I'll post on their forum.

I bit... and am bound and determined to get my money's worth out of this iteration of the engine.

I am playing Elsborne Ridge for like the 10th time.  Its my Great White Whale.  Someday (hopefully this time) I will get a decisive victory.
Meanwhile I cant think of any other game that makes me come back again and again like this Command Ops.

With my issue, I decided to uninstall, reinstall and update again.

I suspected I may have upgraded "out of order" because when I selected to upgrade, 6 upgrade boxes showed up and I wasn't sure what order I performed the update in.

So I installed and upgraded and this time I made sure I upgraded the core engine first. It's possible that cured the problem, because the issue is gone now.  O0
