Not sure if folks noticed this over at Battlefront (I missed it), some little nuggets about the next WWII game hopefully coming out sometime next year.....not a ton of info, but still good to know it is progressing...

***Info from Battlefront***

Development on the Ardennes (name not determined yet) Family is well along.  In fact, we intend to start early testing of the game in a few weeks.  What will the game include?  I'm so glad you asked!

The Base Game includes US Army, German Heer, and German Waffen SS forces covering the timeframe of October through January.  This includes Fall and Winter weather, terrain, vehicle textures, and uniforms.  It also includes new vehicles and TO&E, as well as more subtle things which set the tone for the latest war period we've yet covered with CMx2.

Some new vehicles to play with:

M24 Chaffee
M36 Jackson
Jagdtiger
Flammpanzer 38(t)

There's others too, but off the top of my head that's what I have for you right now.  Though for sure there are some other fun ones (cough --- Sturmtiger --- cough) that will make their debut this time around.

We are planning two Modules for the Ardennes game:

Module 1 = Commonwealth + Luftwaffe Forces

Module 2 = extending the timeframe to the end of the war

Awesome.  Day One Purchase, without question.

Is there a link to information about the game? I thought Strategic Command 3 was next?

I also probably should have said if not clear, this is just another family of combat mission products, not some entirely new game.

A new Battlefront Ardennes game mod?  ::)

And most of us will lineup to purchase it:)

I won't quibble as to the reference to a "new" Ardennes mod -- there hasn't been one in the CMx2 family -- as I think I understand what is intended.

Beyond doubt some dislike the way BFC charges for what came for free in CM:BO.  Some of the best mods for that game were for Wacht am Rhein.

I bid them take my money.  Sooner is better as I've got an Ardennes' itch after watching "Patton" over Christmas.

I'm bitter because I think the Black Sea mod looks like recycled crap.

There is a serious lack of modern strategy gaming, I was hoping for something more.  :(

I usually stick to WWII for tactical stuff.  I'm not sure why.  Force of habit.  BUT: I'm definitely eagerly anticipating some Battle of the Bulgy stuff from battlefront.  I've played quite a few boardgames on the topic and I think the last PC game on the topic I played was some time around 1994.

Where is the innovation or progression? New features? Maybe some update physics or particle system? Maybe a CAMPAIGN, like a REAL one, with an operational level and force pool. What about cooperative or 2v2 gameplay. It's 2014 for Gods sake.

It is the same game as Red Whatever It's Called, in a modern setting. How long is battlefront going to polish that turd of a game engine?

For as long as rhetorical questions suggest there are other less objectionable game engines covering such topics to be had?

And that is probably why BF has shown little, in terms of progress. There is minimal competition, no need for progression or development, and people still buy the game. At least Slitherine is starting to include cooperative multiplayer modes in their games - not the best example company - but at least there is progress.
