Well against the AI it really just makes sense, because if you sit too many turns they just build power stacks of tier III and IV.  Then it just turns into a grind of producing your top tier units and that isn't fun at all.

Nah.  I don't need no stinking campaign!

I'm about ready to go back and play Rome II.

His family is about to double in size. What can you do?

We can't live under the threat of a c*nt because he's threatening nuclear Armageddon.

No I'm just not a really fan of the tactical battles and auto resolving them seems lazy.  I'll get over it and force myself to love the game!

MetalDog

I auto resolve all of them.  I build the right buildings to get as many different troop types and ribbons as I can for my troops.  I also try to pick unit buffs and spells for my Heroes that will help in the tac battles.  Then I make sure to bring enough to win whatever battle I am facing.

I thought the tactical battles were ok but I don't think anyone is missing anything through autoresolving.

Bison

It's like skipping half of the game if you auto resolve.  Also because there is no spell scripting for an auto resolved, you are left to the whims of your spell caster.  Anyway there is fun to be had, I'm just not sure it's the best of the fantasy 4X games available to be played these days.   I reserved the right to retract all my statements!

MetalDog

I agree with your, 'race to Tier IV,' plaint.  I don't like it either.  And as a solo game, I don't see myself playing this like I do Civ or even Warlock.  However, I really think it will be a good MP.  You should seriously consider joining our Sunday morning game.

The tactical battles are alright but take a long time especially with larger armies and are not as epic as tactical battles in other games. Is there a penalty for autoresolving?

Not that I am aware of.  Then again, I'm only 60 or so hours in.  There's a lot I still don't know.
