Bayonet - Are you partial to any particular genre - Or as fragmented as the scene is today, any particular sub-sub-sub-genre?

I grew up an 80s metalhead, so anything from mid-70s thru about '95 is right in my wheelhouse. I like some stuff before and a bunch of stuff after, but most of my iTunes library is from about '81 to '92 or so, with a lot of oddball stuff from living in Germany from 83-88 and working at a metal radio station from 91-94.

I'm a fan of Metallica myself, and Megadeth, Dragonforce (to an extent), Corrupted, Paradise Lost, Sanctuary, and a few others. My taste in thrash/heavier metal has increased as I listen more to SiriusXM's Liquid Metal channel.

My best friend growing up was responsible for a lot of my musical taste. He introduced me to NWOBHM, AC/DC, Metallica, punk, thrash, all sorts of noise. I don't listen much any more, but, it's always a good day to put some Maiden on and turn it up to 11!

I didn't get into rock until late high school/early college (first college attempt, anyway). Metal was pretty much right on its heels. I had a friend in high school JROTC that always wore an Iron Maiden jean jacket (except on uniform days of course) - he got me started on Maiden and it was all downhill from there. :)

I saw Maiden in January of '87, on the Somewhere In Time tour. My seats were terrible, but the Irons kicked ASS!

I finally caught them somewhere around 1997 - they had Rob Halford open for them, and Queensryche played too (I know, I know, but I kinda like Queensryche). Maiden was pretty freakin' awesome, so I concur. 8)

I saw Iron Maiden on the Fear of the Dark tour in Charlotte with Testament and Corrosion of Conformity opening. It was the only North Carolina date that CoC played while opening for Iron Maiden on their world tour. It was kind of a big deal for them, and the crowd. Testament didn't stand a chance coming on after CoC there.

I'm a loud music omnivore. I like everything from Delta Blues to Grindcore. However, NWOBHM is my hands down favorite style.

Bayonet - You're exactly right about Corrosion of Conformity. I like their earlier thrash stuff, but Blind and their subsequent albums just destroy. You're right about their legendary status in North Carolina as well (I believe they are originally from Raleigh). I'm from North Carolina and I've seen them several times, both as an opener and as a headliner, and they dominated every show.

Starfury - I'm a huge punk fan as well.

As for Iron Maiden, I've only seen them live once - opening for Judas Priest in 1981 (I think). I believe that was Maiden's first tour of the States. Both bands were awesome!
