Makes me think about the Yellowstone supervolcano...that damn thing is going to take out half of North America at some point. Probably long after I'm dead, but the whole "could be in an hour, could be in 1,000 years" thing annoys the hell out of me.

Damn!

It looks like some kind of Ancient Astronaut-type artifact detonated, and the photo was taken right after occurrence of the ultra-subsonic-dubstep sound effect and just before the arrival of glowing shock wave.

There are quite a few crazy Chilean volcano-lightning pics around from other recent ones too.  They're all pretty amazing. 

Makes for good desktop wallpaper.  8)
