Kinda looking forward to multi-player.  Since everyone & their dead grandmother owns it now, it will likely be easy to get a big game going in the future.

MP would certainly tip me over into buy-mode. Of course, I need practice first, so I probably need to buy it now  :D

They've already confirmed MP will be released. Probably end of summer. But it's not here yet.

Well I finally finished my first game. It took over 500 turns. I can't imagine how long it will take to finish an MP game.

Did you win? IIRC my first (and only) game took 300+ turns and I friggin' lost too. Didn't take away from the fun though.

Yes I finally took out all the mages as everytime I tried to cast the Unity spell one of them disrupted it and at 5,000 mana points a pop I couldn't afford to keep trying.
It took a lot longer because I wanted to see what was in the other worlds. That added about 100-150 turns to the game. No way I see anyone in MP being strong enough to conquer one of the other worlds. You need a fairly large groups of strong units to clear one out and the other players probably won't let you take the time to do it.

I sent a foray into another world once. After that I've stuck to the Prime Material Plane (or whatever they call it in the game). More than enough fun there.

The game actually works very well on my desktop.  No black screen or mouse issues so far.  I'll need to play out a campaign.

And yes the one time I explored another world I was promptly jumped and beaten mercilessly by a very large force of nasties, so I got the hell out of there and never looked back.

Yup, but I mean practice playing the game generally rather than practice MP. If at all possible, I make myself familiar with a game before diving into MP, not so much to win as to simply provide a credible opponent. Given how popular this animal is, I'd expect to be eaten alive by all you wolves if I didn't first sharpen my teeth in SP  ;)

I am curious to see how MP games go. The AI is not particularly aggressive even at the toughest levels. I think we'll all have some serious learning to do with real brains behind each faction.

I tried a few times before I figured out that out that I had to 'buy' the upgrades for each unit, they didn't get it free. Once I got decent protection and attack boosts I survived. Then when I had enough magic to make all my ground units fly with Vampire weapons I was able to actually clear them out.
Here is what I figured out in the other worlds. Make sure all melee units are flying before you go in so they can help take out the dragons that will be around in bunches. Don't use spells to try to kill the units there, use spells to heal. Ghosts kill dragons but the Red Dragon can kill ghosts so watch for them. Magistrars can kill Fire elementals in one shot so tkae some with you even though they don't have a lot of hit points. Melee and archer units kill everything but it takes time, if there is an upgrade available for them I recommend doing it even if it costs a ton of gold.

Some other things I learned.

Ghosts are the best siege unit IMO unless you can build dwarves. They are usually immune to attacks from the castle so they can just keep attacking without any help. I had 4 of them and they would take out a city in 6-7 turns.

Halbrediers are a bargain. If you find Halbred Hall try to build a city near it. The upgraded unit is pretty good too but expensive.

Anything that gives you Life or Spirit attacks are very useful, not many things have protection from it.

If you build a city near a portal protect it with towers. Eventually things will come out of the portal and towers will buy you time to get units to the city to protect it. The AI seems to go after the towers first then the city.

Towards the end I was able to upgrade my Dwarf unit. I can't recall what it was called but it was absolutely the best siege unit. I used it to attack a city. It did 175 hit points on the first attack. Needless to say the city didn't hold out long  :)
