Wasn't the Ripley in movie#4 a clone or something? Maybe this is about what happened to the original.

Supposedly this movie is to be a direct take from Aliens. Anything after II never happened. I'm good with that.

Yeah, +1 too, to the above. Alien 3 has kind of grown on me but is still easily the worst movie of the franchise. Alien Resurrection was very odd and different but I kind of liked it, though it's just above Alien 3 on my franchise scale.

I had no idea this was even in consideration until it popped up on Facebook. I'm pretty stoked, especially including these two. Though the two of them have aged severely since Aliens came out.

Anyway, it will be interesting to keep an eye on this. Hopefully they're serious about making it and it's not just a pipe dream or ends up getting stuck in development hell.

I'd heard some rumors about Blomkamp having a story idea for a new Aliens movie and I had seen some of the concept art a few moths back. I didn't realize it was an official project though.

I don't know how I feel about this, really. Only Scott and Cameron have shown any actual talent in making films in this series, and I'd hardly call myself a fan of Blomkamp. Having said that, Alien 3 and Resurrection were both so bad that it can't hurt for someone else to have another crack at it.

I guess I'll end up seeing it, but my expectations are low. I'm much more excited about the sequel to Prometheus.

I'm not a fan of Blomkamp either, but I doubt he can do anymore damage to the franchise than has already been done.

Yep. And he at least seems to have a definite vision for the next film. Forgetting about Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection is a good starting point.

Go re-watch Aliens, Gus.

He got hammered by alien acid in an elevator near the end of the movie.
