So here's me raving about F1 2015. IMO, a great F1 "game". It's not hard core sim, but what it is is good fun...something lacking in games sometimes.

Having said that - there's a couple of issues that are really gettingat me - one is bearable and the other is just fooked.

The first one - and I've noticed this for a while. It wasn't present on release - but at some point was introduced...and that is, evry single bloody time I go into the game, I have to go into the controller settings and just remap a couple of items. Not everything...no buttons. Just the steering and accelerator/braking. If I don't do so, it's like the wheel has 50% deadzone.

So that's the bugbear...everytime I go in, I have to adjust the controller settings.

That's bearable...I can deal with that - at least it works.

However, the "latest" issue - which I had not noticed before - is that I can't adjust the graphics settings under the Advanced menu. When I do so, the game drops to desktop and Steam reports it's configuring updates for the game, gets to 1% then reports the Steam Servers are too busy to deal with the request. So the game needs to restart (and will do so automatically) when you change the advanced graphics settings, but it will fail the restart. Go back in, and all the settings are back to LOW!! How f***ing annoying.

This one has recently been introduced I'm sure because I changed the graphics settings when I first got the game. If anyone remembers, I was showing the slideshow that was F1 2015!

So now I've got a game that looks like crap, on a very reasonably spec'd PC because the interface is broken. If Codies didn't force the restart, I could come out the game myself...just so when I at least left that menu, it kept the settings I had requested for next time.

There has been a recurring issue though - right from day 1 and that's the Steam message about updating and then failing. That's been there since release. Everytime I exit the game, Steam says it's configuring updates then fails and reports the servers are too busy. But there's nothing to update...the game has been updated. It just seems to kick off the update process when I exit the game.

Anyone else here got any issues like this? I know a couple of people have it...I'd be very interested to hear if you've noticed the same thing and if so, how you got around it...'cos I've had the game reboot 6 times this morning whilst I was trying to configure the graphics.

I have found this for the Steam updating error which I will try now...

Well - I don't know wtf is the matter with this game now.

I did get rid of the update error by verifying the local files from Steam...but when the game is ready to go into game mode (loading screen stops and gets ready to go to gaming), it drops to desktop. Also, if I make ANY changes to the graphics settings, it drops me to desktop and, worse, doesn't remember them...meaning I have to retry only to have it drop again.

The annoying thing is I'm pretty sure it's a graphics option that's dropping the game...but I can't change them...the game just drops to desktop.

Damn I'm frustrated (and not in an easy to deal with way either!)  :knuppel2:

Sounds like a porked up update, JD.  Maybe you need to just play something else until they fix it.  Frustrating, but what can you do?

I never progressed beyond F1 2013.  The SimHQ guys hated it, but I thought it was just awesome fun.

Well it seems the AMD Catalyst Centre was the trouble causer! I vaguely remembered an issue with pCars and that the Catalyst Centre was involved and sure enough, switching that off, all was well.

Apologies Codies - though there are still issues like it bombing to desktop when making any graphical changes...but it at least plays.

I knew a long time ago I would regret the AMD graphics card purchase. I had heard rumours of issues with drivers and patches. Whilst their drivers seem to be stable, there's something in their Catalyst Centre that is screwing with games. Both pCars and F1 2015 require it switched off...or at least one of the things in the Centre to be switched off...but I just turned the whole thing off - I can't be bothered trying to find out what one of the plethora of options or functions in the Centre are the cause.  :knuppel2:  :knuppel2:  :knuppel2:
