So far this weekend I've done nothing but played Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence on both the PC and PS4. (Yes I'm a sick bastard and got both versions of the game)

I also played a little bit of Nobunaga no Yabou: Souzou which is the Japanese language version of Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence. Now all I need to make this long weekend complete is to watch Akira Kurosawa's Ran.

well scratch Saturday - too busy, played one WitP AE turn with an old oppo, KyzBP has disappeared - i know hes busy

Tonight there will be ARMA 3 KOTH, i find myself excited at the anticipation of playing so i know its a good thing

First Kurosawa film I ever watched. My HS buddies couldn't make any sense of it but I was enthralled.

I've wanted to watch it for years now, but it's never shown on any of the subscription channels/services I've had. I mean.. there are numerous other Japanese films with subtitles but never that one. >:(

I think Ikiru was the first Kurosawa film I ever watched. Still one of my all time favorite films.

I loved seeing Throne of Blood for the first time. I always got spooked by the acts where the main character runs into the ghosts in the woods. Laughing sarcastic asian ghosts for the win!

Some moderate success with Arma III Koth, i learnt a few things

- its a lot easier to be in the game at the start than join in the middle, i had my first start this evening and was much more familiar with the ebb and flow of the battle and where the hot spots were

- as ever, i cant shoot for shit, i know my gun is underpowered but i am genuinely a bad shot, it just means closing with the enemy a little more and thats no bad thing

- never turn around to see where the last incoming shot came from, just run for gods sake!

- i have a lot of difficulty finiding the enemy but im due to watch a few KOTH youtube videos tonight and ill see what im doing wrong

As usual, i barely had time to play anything (around 20 minutes of Hegemony and Horizon each)... :'(

Managed to buy new games though

....preordered Grand Ages Medieval and Anno 1701 and the Settlers VI (?) on GOG. If only i could play games as fast i buy them!

Very much tempted by Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence but i think i'll wait....still have Takeda 3 and have barely played Shogun TW as well as Sengoku. I have to play these first.

PS: forgot that i also bougth Endless Legend which was on sale on gamersgate.

Hey UCG, I was on KotH last night as well. If you see "Toonces" please ensure you say hello.

A few things I've learned:

1. If you get on a bad server, meaning one team is totally stacked, or is just strafing the shit out of your spawn, cut your losses and go to a different server (unless you have a ton of patience). I had two pretty bad experiences last night, first I was on the Vila server with 60/80 players on and once the OPFOR got the objective wired it was impossible to get into the zone and get anything done. We had like 18 on our team and if one team has it's stuff together and is a bit overnumbered, they can hold off the other team pretty effectively. Second run the OPFOR has about 5 jets up and they just killed anyone trying to get into the zone. I think we lost 100 to 3 or something like that. Not fun at all.

2. A good weapon/launcher will make a huge difference in your kills. I used the EXPL perk to get the grenade launcher for the Katiba and you can get a lot of kills with that. Especially if a helo lands or there's a paradrop anywhere within 200 yards of your position. Get the EXPL and AMMO perks and you can really do some damage. Last night I finally picked up a machine gun, the 12.7mm one in tan, and I was just wasting dudes with that. Your kills will go way up when you start one-shotting guys instead of having to put multiple rounds into them and just winging them.

3. Don't discount other cues around you. Twice I got killed last night and I heard the guy coming up the stairs but thought I was just hearing things. Also, if you shoot at someone and miss them but they get a look at where you're shooting from, or if you get wounded but then get up and start shooting again at the guy that wounded you, 9 times out of 10 they will sneak around to your building and come upstairs to kill you. Be expecting that and wait for them. I am getting good at killing dudes like that. You have to be patient, though, but almost always they'll come to you if you wait long enough.

When KotH is on it is super fun, but like any MP game, if you get the wrong mix of players it's not fun at all. The right weapon, though, makes a huge difference. I recommend upgrading as soon as you can.

I was tempted to revisit that one after seeing there was a Star Wars Imperial Prison themed mod for it. But I thought the game itself was still in beta..?

Alpha actually but they just released the last alpha patch recently. So now it's onto beta and beyond!

Jim and I got in a co-op game of SOW Waterloo yesterday, where we pulled off a major victory and held on to Plancenoit despite hordes of Prussians coming at us. Artillery is your friend in this game. We may give it another go today.

Played a short scenario of AGEOD's Thirty Years War - the Paladins. Won on points, but I think the real meat of this game is in the longer scenarios/grand campaign. May start that today.

PBEM turns in the JTS/HPS Waterloo campaign game Jim and I are playing.

Finished up the Brienne: Unskilled Fury scenario from OSGs Introductory game and then played the Aspern Essling scenario from Waterloo 20. Some pictures of the Brienne game are up at my blog, and I'll post an AAR of Aspern Essling later this week, I think.
